Attention: small business owners.
It’s important to understand & work with someone who can save you money on your taxes.
When you purchase any equipment, you can:
- write off most of the cost when you purchase via the bonus depreciation rules
- use Sec 179 to write off some or all of the cost of the equipment
You are not required to have paid off the equipment in order to write it off.

March 15, 2020: COVID-19 UPDATE FOR TAX SEASON
As of March 15, 2020, Acumen is still open and fully functional to serve clients during tax season. This may change on a day to day basis, so we can keep our valued staff and team safe.
As of today the Illinois governor has ordered restaurants in the state to close for dine-in from March 16, 2020 upto March 30, 2020. If the entire state is ordered to go on lockdown, a more detailed plan will be posted here so clients can be assured that we are still taking care of them and their documents.
Currently, we are encouraging all clients to upload documents to the portal and use the e-signature feature if you are social distancing. We are also encouraging clients to go on extension if you are not able to use the upload feature or you just want to be extra careful.
While the IRS has not fully clarified the details of the proposed automatic extension rules, we are happy to place you on extension by following the current IRS protocol if you so desire. All corporate clients whose returns are not complete as of Friday March 13, 2020 have been placed on extension.
Stay safe and let us know how we can help during these trying times.
