🚨 3 Tax Mistakes That Can Lead to IRS Notices
Many IRS notices happen because of small filing mistakes. Taking a few extra minutes to review your return can help avoid delays, penalties, or letters from the IRS.
Common things to double-check before filing:
• Report all income, including 1099 forms
• Make sure you select the correct filing status
• Review your documents and calculations carefully
Staying organized and informed can help make tax filing smoother and reduce errors.

If you receive pension income, it may be subject to federal income tax depending on your overall tax situation.
Pension payments are generally reported on Form 1099-R, which shows:
• Total distributions received
• Taxable amount
• Federal income tax withheld (if applicable)
Some key points to know:
✔ Pension income is typically considered taxable income at the federal level.
✔ Certain portions may be non-taxable if you made after-tax contributions to the plan.
✔ You may choose to have taxes withheld from pension payments.
Understanding how retirement income is reported can help with accurate tax filing.

Spring is around the corner 🌸 and so is the tax deadline.
Just like we prepare for a new season, it’s a good time to organize your tax documents and review your filing plans.
With only a few weeks left, staying ahead of the deadline can help keep things simple and stress-free.
Spring forward ⏰ and don’t forget — tax deadlines are approaching. Taking time now to gather your W-2s, 1099s, receipts, and review your dependents can help ensure accurate and timely filing.
If you have questions about your specific tax situation, it’s important to review your documents carefully or consult your tax professional.

Did you know you may be able to deduct state and local sales tax on your federal return?
If you itemize on Schedule A, you can choose to deduct:
✔️ State income taxes OR
✔️ State sales taxes
You can’t deduct both — choose the one that benefits you most.
⚠️ The total SALT deduction limit is $10,000 ($5,000 if Married Filing Separately).
This can be especially helpful if you live in a state with no state income tax.
Make sure you keep proper documentation and consult a qualified tax professional to see what applies to your situation.
If you’re self-employed or receive a 1099, tracking your business mileage could lower your taxable income. Keep accurate records and make sure you’re following Internal Revenue Service guidelines. Small miles add up.

Owning rental property can be a great source of income—but it also comes with important tax responsibilities.
Many taxpayers don’t realize that rental income must be reported, and certain expenses like mortgage interest, property taxes, insurance, repairs, and depreciation may help reduce your taxable income when properly documented.
Keeping accurate records throughout the year makes tax season smoother and helps avoid costly mistakes.
If you earn rental income and want to make sure everything is filed correctly and in compliance, I’m here to help guide you through the process.
