The annual trending inflation rate is at 2.9%, based on the July Consumer Price Index reported today, where it rose 0.2%. This is the lowest since 2021 and “may” be a harbinger for an interest rate cut in the near distant future. We shall see. The full report can be read by clicking on the web link below:

The inflation report for producers of goods and services, for July 2024 rose 0.10%. The tannualized rate is 2.2%. The report weblink is below. Tomorrow we get the all important inflation CPI report, Consumer Price Index. Stay tuned.

The U.S. economy grew faster than expected in the second quarter amid solid gains in consumer spending and business investment, but inflation pressures subsided, leaving intact expectations of a September interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve.
