Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.
Speak to the heart of my people, and cry to him that his bo***ge is ended, that his iniquity is forgiven, that he has received from the hand of the LORD double for all his sins.
A voice cries, Prepare in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Let every valley be exalted, and every mountain and hill be made low; let the hills become plains, and the narrow places become valleys.
Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
A voice says, Cry! -And he answers, What shall I cry? All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the LORD blows upon it. -Surely the people are like grass:
The grass withers, the flower fades; But the word of our God stands forever.
Get up on a high mountain to proclaim good news; Lift your voice with strength, O my people, to proclaim good news; Lift your voice, do not fear; Say to the nations, Here is your God!
Behold, the Lord GOD comes with power, And with his arm, he rules; Behold, the reward is with him, And the rewards go before him.
Like a shepherd he will feed his flock; He will gather the lambs in his arms, And carry them in his bosom; He will lead the ewes that nurse.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, And measured the heavens in the palm of his hand, And gathered the dust of the earth in a third of a measure? Who has weighed the mountains with a hook, And the hills in a balance?
Who has searched the spirit of the LORD, And who has enlightened him with his counsels?
With whom has he consulted to receive instruction?
Who has taught him the path of righteousness? Who has taught him wisdom, And made known the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, They are as dust in the balance; Behold, the islands are as small dust that flies away.
All the nations are as nothing before him; They are to him nothing and vanity.
To whom will you compare God? Or what image will you make equal to him?
A craftsman melts an idol, And a goldsmith overlays it with gold, And welds chains of silver to it.
He who is poor gives little Chooses wood that does not rot; He procures a skilled craftsman, To make an idol that will not shake.
Do you not know? Have you not heard it? Has it not been made known to you from the beginning? Have you never considered the foundations of the earth?
He sits above the circle of the earth, and those who dwell in it are like grasshoppers; he stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
He brings princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth nothing.
They are not even planted, not even sown, their stock does not even take root in the earth: he blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind carries them away like stubble.
To whom will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.
Lift your eyes on high, and see! Who created these things?
Who brings their army in order?
He calls them all by name; By his great power and by his mighty strength. There is not one that fails.
Why do you say, Jacob, Why do you say, Israel, My way is hidden from the LORD, My judgment is hidden from my God?
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, is the Creator of the ends of the earth; He will not faint or grow weary; His understanding cannot be searched. He will give power to the faint, And the faint He will increase strength.
The youths will faint and be weary, And the young men will stumble, But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not be weary; They will walk and not be faint.
