For the 2025 tax year, the New York State Empire State child credit has been enhanced, offering:
💲1,000 per qualifying child under 4 years old.
💲330 per qualifying child aged four through 16.
This is an increase from the previous maximum of $330 per child and removes the income phase-in for the lowest-income families, making the full credit available to more residents.
Eligibility requires being a full-year New York State resident with a qualifying child under 17 who lived with you for over half the year and meets federal guidelines. Both you and your child need a valid SSN or ITIN.
Income Threshold
$110,000 for married filing jointly, $75,000 for single/head of household/qualifying surviving spouse, and $55,000 for married filing separately.

The 12 Days of Christmas: Smart Tax Advice 🎄
What day are YOU on❓️❓️📆
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Day 1:
Know your filing status. It impacts your tax rate, credits, and deductions more than most taxpayers realize.
Day 2:
Track all income sources. W-2s, 1099s, cash payments, side hustles, and digital sales all count.
Day 3:
Keep receipts year-round. Proper documentation is the foundation of defensible deductions.
Day 4:
Self-employed? Pay estimated taxes quarterly to avoid penalties and interest.
Day 5:
Maximize retirement contributions. Traditional IRAs and employer plans can reduce taxable income.
Day 6:
Use the home office deduction correctly. It must be regular, exclusive, and business-related.
Day 7:
Don’t overlook credits. Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Credit, education credits, and energy credits add up.
Day 8:
Separate business and personal finances. Dedicated accounts simplify compliance and audit protection.
Day 9:
Review withholding annually. A life change can mean you are overpaying or underpaying.
Day 10:
File on time or request an extension. An extension gives time to file—not time to pay.
Day 11:
Avoid tax myths. Not everything is deductible, and aggressive shortcuts increase audit risk.
Day 12:
Work with a tax professional. Strategic planning beats last-minute filing every time.

How to 📂 Audit Your
"Life Events"
Think about anything major that changed in the past year, as these are often tied to new tax credits or deductions.
✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
✅️Did you get married, divorced, or have a baby? (These impact your filing status and potential credits like the Child Tax Credit.)
✅️Did you buy or sell a house? (Gather your closing documents and Form 1098, which shows mortgage interest paid.)
✅️Did you start a side-hustle or freelance work? (This means you'll need to meticulously track all income and expenses for Schedule C.)
✅️Did a child start or finish college? (Look for Forms 1098-T for tuition and 1098-E for student loan interest.)
Being proactive will lighten the load during Tax Season.🎯

Who this woman Harpo...
Your tax liability is the total amount of tax you owe to the government for the year. It’s not just about how much you earn — several factors work together to shape the final number. Here’s the deeper breakdown:
---
✨️✨️ Gross Income✨️✨️
This is the starting point. It includes all the money you earn, not just from your paycheck.
Wages & Salaries – income reported on your W-2.
Self-Employment Income – freelance or business earnings.
Investment Income – dividends, interest, and capital gains.
Rental Income – money from property you rent out.
Other Income – alimony (if applicable), side hustles, gambling winnings, etc.

Let's keep it simple....
✨️What is a Tax Bracket✨️
Think of your income as a stack of pizza. The lowest slice is cheap cheese (10%), then the next slice gets a little more sauce and toppings (12%), and as you add more slices you pay more for those slices. But — and this is important — you only pay the higher rate on the slices in that higher bracket, not on your entire pizza.

Taxes are weird. Like, did you know that in New York, a sliced bagel is taxed but a whole one isn’t? The government really said, “I see you want a bagel… but at what cost?” 🥯💸😮
