I had the privilege of attending the Women’s Economic Forum and left incredibly inspired by the abundance women are creating across industries.
From entrepreneurship to government leadership to community development, the room was filled with women building businesses, opening doors, and creating opportunities for others.
Some powerful insights that stayed with me:
“We need to make it a habit of not depleting ourselves as business owners.” – Dynishal Gross Commissioner of the NYC Department of Small Business Services
Variation destroys trust in service businesses. Consistency and systems are what allow companies to scale. – Mary Piven, CEO of Clean2Clean
Create a roadmap for your life and business for the next 5, 10, and 15 years and pay it forward by helping other women rise. – Carol Hanlon
“Flexibility is key for equality.” – Karina Suarez, CEO of Clínica Belenus
One statement that really moved me came from Consuelo Baraona of the New York State Insurance Fund:
Women comply, make promises, and deliver.
The event also highlighted opportunities for women and minority owned businesses through partnerships, government contracts, grants, and programs designed to support entrepreneurs. Grateful to organizations like the NY Women's Chamber of Commerce and Quenia Abreu for continuing to create spaces that elevate and support women entrepreneurs.
It was also great connecting with some incredible people in the room including Francisco J. Betancourt, Deborah, Andrea Giraldo, and Frances Castillo, MSHRM from Project73.
Grateful to be surrounded by women who are building, scaling, and lifting others as they rise. Thank you to Olympic Medalist Barbara Lewin for reminding us to enjoy the journey and stick to the plan ✍️☺️.

I made a goal before my trip to Puerto Rico to travel without my laptop.
That alone felt absurd.
January is busy season in my industry.
Client service is at its peak.
And I honestly never do that. I usually don’t even consider it.
But I asked myself what would actually make me feel the most relaxed.
Even if it felt ridiculous for the time of year.
Especially because I usually try to take a break in January and never really get one.
At first, my nervous system rejected the idea completely.
My body went straight into work mode.
Working with my coach , I’ve been practicing slowing things down and standing in my intuition. Playing with ideas that feel absurd only because they’re not how I’ve always done things.
So I asked a different question:
What would it take for this to actually be possible?
I prepped everything ahead of time.
And once I committed, I jumped all the way in.
What surprised me most was that once I was there, I handled everything from my phone. Emails. Team questions. Anything pressing.
And then there was this lull.
Because there was almost nothing to answer.
I realized my laptop had been a crutch.
A safety precaution.
Almost like a badge of honor that said I’m all work, no play.
And I really needed that not to be true this time.
Without it, things felt different.
The sun felt brighter.
The sky looked bluer.
There was no background noise.
Just clarity.
I felt joy. Peace. Ease.
I already see myself as someone who’s grounded and present.
But this felt simple. Natural. Unforced.
There wasn’t a part of me that wanted to interrupt it.
I wanted to honor the goal I set for myself and actually rest.
As an entrepreneur, that doesn’t happen often.
I knew I’d come back happy.
Not rushed.
Not scattered.
Just slower. Clearer.
And excited to return with a different kind of energy.
Where in your life could you choose ease without explaining it?

Keeping your owner's draw or shareholder's account squeaky clean is key to accurate record-keeping and avoiding tax headaches later.
Why is this important? Separating personal and business transactions ensures your financial reports are accurate and transparent.
Bonus Tip: Keep separate accounts for business and personal expenses! This makes record-keeping a breeze and minimizes the risk of mixing things up.
