Wondering what a fractional CFO would actually do for your business?

In the first 30 days: learn how your business makes money, make sure the books are accurate, build a 13-week cash flow forecast, and sit down with you to plan the next few big decisions. By day 30, you know how much cash you'll have in three months and whether you can afford that next hire.

πŸ’‘ Financial Tip Friday: Send the invoice the day the work is done.

Payment terms don't start until the invoice goes out. Wait three weeks to bill, and Net 30 becomes nearly two months between finishing the job and getting paid.

What's your record for fastest payment after sending an invoice?

Use QuickBooks? Here's a 10-minute check worth doing this week.

Four accounts in your file should always be zero: Undeposited Funds (Payments to deposit), Uncategorized Income and Expense, Ask My Accountant, and Opening Balance Equity. A balance in any of them means something in your books wasn't finished, and your reports are off because of it.

πŸ’‘ Financial Tip Friday: Open QuickBooks and search your Chart of Accounts for "Uncategorized." Every one of those accounts should be at zero.

If there's a balance, some of your real income or expenses never made it onto your P&L. Move each transaction to the right account, and your reports get a lot more trustworthy.

How long has yours been sitting there?

Quick gut check: do you know when last month's numbers will show up?

A good monthly close follows the same steps every month. Get every transaction in, reconcile every account, clean up the balance sheet, book the adjustments, and review everything before it goes out. Done right, you should have last month's financials by the 20th.

Our latest BIZ Blog post walks through each step and what you should receive every month: https://www.bizaccountpros.com/post/what-a-good-monthly-close-looks-like-and-when-you-should-get-your-financials?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=blog

πŸ’‘ Financial Tip Friday: Reconcile every account, every month.

Match what's in your books to your bank, credit card, and loan statements, and track down anything that doesn't match. It's the one step every other report depends on.

When did you last reconcile?
