September brings two deadlines that matter for auto shops, and missing either one gets expensive fast.

September 10: if your shop has detailers, valet attendants, or wash staff who take tips, any employee who earned more than $20 in tips during August has to report those tips to management by this date. The shop then has to withhold F**A and income tax from that employee's next paycheck.

September 15 is the bigger one. Self-employed mechanics and mobile techs owe their third quarter estimated tax payment. Corporations owe their third estimated tax installment. Shops running as an S-Corp or partnership that filed for an extension back in March have to get their 2025 return filed and K-1s out to partners or shareholders. Shops on a monthly payroll tax deposit schedule owe August's Social Security, Medicare, and withholding too.

That's a lot to track in one week. We build these dates into every client's calendar so nothing gets missed.

Want these deadlines handled instead of tracked by hand? Let's talk about what that looks like for your shop.

This is what partnership looks like.

When this business owner came to us, they were managing three separate software systems just to piece together a picture of their numbers. We combined those systems into one, so they could finally see where money was moving, where it was being lost, and where the business was excelling.

Now they know their numbers every month, every quarter, and every year. That clarity brought their accounting fees down by about 75% and gave them back the time to focus on what they do best: teaching, marketing, and growing their brand.

This is the difference between reconciling transactions and having a true financial partner. Clear systems. Clear reporting. Real confidence to build and grow.

If your books feel like one more thing to manage instead of a tool for growth, let's talk about what a real financial partnership can do for your business.

Many shop owners we talk with have been mechanics and are great business owners, but they are flying blind on the numbers that actually matter. Revenue up top does not always mean profit at the bottom, and bay by bay performance can hide problems a monthly P&L never shows.

That is exactly what we are digging into at ASTA this September. If your books have never quite told you the whole story, this session is for you.

Join us September 24th at ASTA and bring your questions.

Meet the two people who built VBC because they were tired of shop owners flying blind.

They didn't set out to be another vendor sending a monthly bill.

They built VBC because too many good shop owners were making big decisions on numbers nobody had actually checked.

Every client gets a U.S.-based team, more than one set of eyes on the books, and people who are still there for the follow-up question a year later.

Meet the full team and see if VBC is the right fit for your shop.

Money in the bank isn't the safety net you think it is.

A lot of owners think "my books are fine" just means there's money in the bank. That's not the same thing as knowing your numbers.

Knowing your numbers means understanding what it actually costs you to make a sale, and whether last month's growth left you better off or just busier.

Those are two very different situations, and your bank balance won't tell you which one you're in.

Not sure which one applies to you? Give us a call and we'll help you find out.

AI can spot a number that moved. It can't tell you why it matters.

We use AI tools to catch mistakes faster and speed up the busywork.

Here's what those tools can't do: a computer can tell you an expense jumped 40 percent last month. It can't tell you if that's a one-time purchase or a new cost that's here to stay and will eat into your margins going forward.

That judgment call still takes a person who knows your business, which is exactly why the tools support our team instead of replacing it.

How do you use AI in your finances? Let us know in the comments.

One report told this shop owner exactly which bay was losing money.

A shop came to us with three months of unreconciled bank and credit card accounts and no real idea which jobs were making money.

Ninety days later: all three months caught up, monthly reports ready within 5 business days, and a report showing one of their bays was earning half the profit of the other two.

That one report changed how they scheduled technicians the next month.

Want to see a report like that for your own shop? Let's set up a call.

There are 5 ways to handle your shop's books. Only one gives you a full team without the full-time salary.

We built VBC to be the fifth option.

You get a full team, at a fraction of what an in-house hire would cost, with more than one set of eyes on your books every single month.

Bookkeeping, tax prep coordination, and higher-level financial guidance, all from one team that actually knows the auto repair business.

Tekmetric and QuickBooks don't always communicate well with each other.

That's costing you visibility.

Most shops run Tekmetric and QuickBooks Online side by side but never actually update the mapping, so job-level detail dies the moment it hits the books.

VBC audits the mapping so they play well together.

Ask me how your shop's accounts are set up right now. I'm happy to take a look.
