Full retirement age is 67 for most people, and waiting until then means 100% of your benefit. Delay even further, and it can grow by 8% per year up to age 70.
The real question is simple: smaller checks for longer, or bigger checks for less time? 💭
Social Security isn’t random.
You earn work credits based on income, and you need 40 total to qualify for retirement benefits.
Your payout is based on your highest 35 years of earnings, and missing years can lower your benefit.
