Report: L.A. permits 8,800 homes in the first half of 2026
Los Angeles has issued over 8,800 new home permits in the first half of 2026—a sharp increase from last year, with nearly triple the activity. While this surge is promising, it’s important to note that many permits are for rebuilding homes lost to wildfires, rather than adding fresh housing stock. Despite the uptick, overall housing production remains behind what’s needed—especially as rents stay high, office vacancies climb, and we see more jobs shifting into education and health services. In my work as a real estate Broker®, I see firsthand how these intersecting trends shape both opportunities and challenges for buyers, sellers, investors, and those relocating to or within L.A. Navigating such a dynamic market calls for strategic insight and an understanding of both local realities and broader economic shifts. As always, clarity and informed guidance make all the difference when planning your next move.

Creative Paths to Homeownership Grow in LA, Orange Counties
Navigating the Los Angeles and Orange County real estate markets requires both expertise and a steady hand—especially as home affordability continues to tighten. Recent data shows that just 17% of LA households and 15% in Orange County can now afford a median-priced home, with statewide affordability slipping to 19%. These figures reflect the combined pressure of rising mortgage rates and home prices, making strategic planning more important than ever for buyers and sellers alike. Drawing from years of negotiation and a background in business marketing, I stay focused on clarity and calm solutions, guiding clients through these challenging shifts with both insight and care. Whether you’re entering the market for the first time or managing a complex sale, having a knowledgeable advocate by your side can make all the difference.
