Most payers who receive the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit are also entitled to a California Franchise Tax Earned Income Credit. A few clients were surprised when we told them they were getting money back from California.

One client found out last year that she received a refund because she received a letter from the Franchise Tax Board. Her refund was kept by the tax office of $1,800.

Sometimes, paying cheap prices costs you more than paying a little bit more for good services, and you get to keep more in your pocket.

Taxpayers receiving the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) should start seeing their federal tax refund.

IHSS wages earned from providing care to a person living in the same household should not be considered income for tax purposes. We had a client who was going to receive a $3,000 tax refund,d but when we adjusted her IHSS income, her refund jumped to $7,000.

If your taxes have been done incorrectly in the past 3 years, you can make an amendment to get the difference back from the IRS.

2020 Recovery Rebate Credit, file a tax return by May 17, 2024.
2021 Recovery Rebate Credit, file a tax return by April 15, 2025.
