A little professional update… 📚
I haven’t talked much about my tax advisory business on here lately, but I assure you, I’m still very much in it. And apparently, I’ve decided I needed another set of letters behind my name. 😂
I’m excited to share that I’ve officially been approved to sit for the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Exam!
You might wonder what fraud examination has to do with tax advisory. Quite a bit, actually.
Good tax planning goes far beyond finding deductions. It means understanding the financial story behind a business, analyzing transactions, identifying potential risks and inconsistencies, evaluating documentation and internal controls, and making sure the strategies being implemented are both strategic and defensible.
Adding the CFE skill set to my CPA and tax advisory background will allow me to look at my clients’ businesses through an even sharper lens, not only asking “How can we legally reduce this tax bill?” but also “Is this structured, documented, and supported the way it should be?”
And speaking of tax planning…
In 2025, I helped my clients save approximately $500,000 in combined federal and state taxes, with about 99% of the clients I serve living outside of Texas.
For 2026, I’m currently on track to nearly DOUBLE that number. 🤯
I’m incredibly proud of that, because behind those numbers are business owners and families who worked hard for their income and wanted to be more intentional about what happened to it.
So yes, the tax advisory business is still very much alive. I’ve just been a little quieter about it while I’ve been busy actually doing the work. 😉
CPA ➡️ Tax Advisor ➡️ CFE in progress.
Always learning. Always sharpening the tools. And always looking for better ways to serve my clients.
Now… time to study. 📚😅
