Through personalized consulting, experienced investment management, and highly customized financial plans, we assist our clients in understanding their full financial picture, visualizing their life goals, and managing their wealth throughout all of life’s milestones. We want to be your trusted partner on the path to prosperity–whatever that might look like for you. Our plans give our clients peace of mind today, and a solid road map for tomorrow. Our firm is named Pachira–the literal term for the “money tree”–to reflect our company’s approach, which closely mirrors the plant’s symbolism. A Money Tree boasts a striking braided trunk, made from the joining of multiple Pachira Aquatica, which reinforces its sturdiness as it blooms to its full potential. This symbol of good fortune represents strength through collaboration, rootedness in a solid foundation, and the endless possibility for growth. With Pachira Wealth Management, your finances are strongly rooted, built to last, with endless possibilities for abundance.

October is National Women's Small Business Month, and Pachira is one of the businesses it celebrates. Gretchen built the firm she wished had existed, one designed around women. So we know what it means to sign the paychecks, carry the risk, and wonder whether your own retirement is keeping pace with the company you are growing. For women business owners, business and personal finances are never truly separate. Cash flow, retirement, taxes, and your eventual exit all depend on each other, so we plan for both sides together. To every woman running her own business this month, we are in your corner.

You'd never tell a friend to put her entire net worth into a single stock, but if your business is your whole retirement plan, that's effectively the position you're in.

In our latest insight, we discuss the importance of paying yourself a real salary, SEP-IRA vs. Solo 401(k), and why exit planning should start years before you're ready: https://www.pachirawealthmanagement.com/financial-planning-women-business-owners/

Financial planning for women business owners starts with separating personal and business wealth. Here's why that split helps protect what you've built.

Tax preparation and tax planning are not the same thing. Preparation is what happens in the spring, when someone records decisions you already made. Planning is what happens now, while those decisions are still yours to make. The difference shows up in things like which accounts you draw from, when you realize a gain, how charitable giving is timed, and whether a Roth conversion makes sense in a lower-income year. None of that can be fixed in April. It has to be decided while the year is still open. Income tax insights are built into how we work at Pachira, because a strong investment strategy and a thoughtful tax strategy are the same conversation. If your accountant is the only person you talk to about taxes, there is likely more available to you.

A lot of the women we work with tell us the same thing. No one ever talked to them about money growing up, and they figured it out the hard way. Then they realize they are quietly doing the same thing with their own daughters. Financial confidence is learned, usually at a kitchen table, usually before anyone calls it financial planning. Let her see you look at a statement. Talk through a decision out loud instead of deciding privately. Say what something costs and why it is worth it, or why it is not. She does not need a perfect example. She needs a visible one. That is how the pattern changes.

Sunday is National Grandparents Day, and for a lot of the women we work with, this one lands close to home. You may be the grandmother now. You may be watching your mother in that role. Either way, grandparents give, and they often give quietly. A tuition payment here. A 529 contribution there. The car repair nobody else knows about. That generosity is real, and it deserves the same intention as every other part of your financial life. There are structured ways to help the people you love, from education accounts to gifting strategies to what you choose to leave behind and how. Done thoughtfully, giving supports the next generation without putting pressure on your own retirement. Wisdom is the part you cannot put in an account. The rest, we can help you plan.

In a lot of households, just one person is in charge of handling the money. That arrangement can work well for years, but it can stop working so well the moment that person is not there. Women statistically live longer than their partners, which means many will eventually manage a financial life they did not build the systems for. Not because they could not, but someone else always did. Being partnered is not the same as being prepared. You should know what you own, where it is, and why it is structured the way it is, whether or not you are the one placing the trades. At Pachira, we make sure both people are in the room, and both people understand the plan.

Labor Day honors work, and we would add that the work deserves more than a day off. You have spent this year earning, but the question worth asking now is what that money has actually been doing while you were busy. Fall is when benefits season arrives, when open enrollment paperwork lands in your inbox, and when retirement contributions can still be adjusted before the year closes. It is a short window with real consequences. At Pachira, we help women make sure the plan behind the paycheck is keeping pace with the effort going into it. Enjoy the long weekend. Then take twenty minutes and look at what your work is building.

There is a stretch of life where you are helping your kids figure out their next step and helping your parents figure out theirs, often in the same week. The financial questions that come with it are rarely simple, and they are almost never discussed until something forces the issue. Where are their documents? Who has legal authority if a decision needs to be made quickly? What do they actually want? Asking early is not intrusive. It is what makes the next conversation easier instead of harder. We sit with women in the middle of this all the time, and we can help you think through your parents' picture and your own at the same time.

Divorce forces a hundred decisions at once, and the financial ones tend to fall to the bottom of the list. There is a house to sort out, an attorney to keep paying, and a schedule to hold together. So the harder questions about retirement accounts, beneficiaries, and long-term cash flow get pushed to "once things settle down." Waiting has a cost, and it compounds. A settlement can look fair on paper and still leave you with assets that do not work for your actual life. Our newest guide answers the questions we hear most often, from what documents to gather to how a QDRO works to when beneficiary designations need updating. Read it in full here: https://bit.ly/4ptdXa4

This guide to financial planning during divorce covers what women need to know—from asset division to QDROs—so you can move forward with confidence.

We do not want you to hand us your money and look away. We want you to understand what you own, why you own it, and how it connects to the life you are building. An advisor who cannot explain your plan in plain language is not doing their job.

That is why education sits at the center of everything we do here. Every question is worth asking, every answer belongs to you, and confidence is not something we hand out. It is something we help you build.
