🚨 CLIENT ALERT: IRS PHISHING EMAIL SCAM 🚨
We want to alert our clients about fraudulent emails pretending to be from the IRS.
⚠️ The email may look very convincing. It may use the IRS logo, say that a tax statement or CP2000 notice is ready, and ask you to click a button such as “Download Your Document.”
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK OR DOWNLOAD ANY ATTACHMENTS.
Before taking action, always check the actual sender’s email address. In the example we received, the email displayed “IRS.GOV,” but it was actually sent from a non-IRS email domain.
Remember:
* The IRS will never ask you to access an official tax notice through a suspicious third-party email address.
* Do not provide your SSN, banking information, passwords, or other personal information through an unexpected email.
* Do not let urgent language such as “Respond within 5 business days” pressure you into clicking.
* When in doubt, contact your tax professional or verify the notice directly through the official IRS website.
📌 Greenfield & Associates clients:
If you receive an IRS email, letter, text message, or notice that you are unsure about, please send it to our office for review before responding or clicking anything.
Please share this post with friends and family. These scams are becoming increasingly realistic.
Stay alert. Protect your personal and financial information.
