Having a hard time getting your return filed by April 15? Filing an extension can give you more time to get your return done. There are a few ways you can request an extension. While you're paying your balance online, you can check the box that you're paying as part of filing for an extension. Another option is to use Free File. Taxpayers who have an Individual Online Account can view and download their available wage and income transcripts for 2025. In some cases, a transcript may not populate and a message of “No record of return filed” may show. This is because the IRS has not received the data from the employer.
