Wow!

Average auto loan amounts have steadily increased in the past decade, reaching $41,665 for new vehicles and $28,506 for used vehicles in the third quarter of 2022, according to Experian. New car buyers in the nonprime/fair credit tier (601 to 660) take out the largest loans — $44,530, on average.

So many of the people in the with not the best credit are the ones taking the largest loans?! This is how you stay broke in America. Don't be normal. Be abnormal!

"27 Signs You Are Financially Stable"

Really good article to help you figure out if you've moved your personal finances from Struggling to Stable.

#3 - You Use Credit Cards for Convenience and Rewards – But Never Out of Necessity
I currently have 4 credit cards in my wallet and use them almost every day.

How could you, Jeff? You’re a Certified Financial Planner!

Yes, I am, but here’s the catch: I pay them off every month. As a bonus, we have carefully selected credit cards that collect reward points which we use for airlines miles. Boo-yah!

Many people who are not financially stable have a bad habit of using credit cards as a way to extend their paychecks – to buy the things that they really can’t afford.

That’s not an issue in your life!

If you do use a credit card, it will strictly be for convenience, such as being able to make a fast payment online. Or you will do it because your credit card company provides you with rewards for making purchases.

About Dave Ramsey…

He’s catching a lot of criticism these days. Here are a couple of my thoughts:

I’ve been a financial planner and credit consultant in the past and think his advice works well for the vast majority of people. Most folks’ financial situation is an absolute mess. Trust me.

His advice doesn’t really break down until you get to a place of financial stability, independence and have some savvy of your own. Until then using tools like his budget template and debt snowball are valuable, I think. My wife and I used such to become 100% debt free and only took on a mortgage recently… under very favorable terms.

Frankly I think he gets too much criticism from folks who are broke. If you’re still in the woods with your money, I think Dave has a lot to teach you.

You can always make a change. Change is possible. Change starts with making a choice. This isn’t rocket science or brain surgery but think about how many times people want a change in their lives but never CHOOSE anything different!? The small, simple act of choosing can change the direction of your life. It’s simple but I’m not saying it’s always easy to do.

Where you are now isn’t your final location. You are not on the final page in the story of your life. Every choice matters and you can choose yourself into a new place in life. God is faithful and His Word is true. Don’t give up. There IS a better way.

Let’s talk about it.

Debt-Free isn't just about bragging rights. It's about YOU being in control of what you do with your money. Being debt-free is being stress-free. No worries about bill collectors. No worries about getting turned down for jobs or purchases. No worries about what happens if you lose your job or major clients.

I urge you to make paying off your debts a bigger priority in 2021. You can do it. I can personally testify that it was hard to even imagine being debt-free when we started our journey. It seemed like it could take forever! And, honestly, before we took Total Money Makeover I don't even think either of us thought about it. Debt seemed like it would always be a part of our life in one way or another.

Now it's gone and we're working on our next financial goal: emergency reserves. We're working towards becoming millionaires one step at a time. Our dream is to be a resource to our families, community and church. We hope to show everyone who comes in contact with us a better way!
