Why you shouldn’t take that IRS withholding calculator at face value If you've crunched the numbers on your pay stub, be sure to float them by your accountant before your raise or lower the amount of taxes pulled from your pay.

You may have noticed an increase in your take home pay. That is because the tax tables have been lowered by the government. However, keep in mind this also means you will get smaller refunds or you could end up owing on you tax return next year. If this is the case, you may want to increase your tax deductions by changing your form W4 with your employer.
