💰 Tax Tip 101: Keep Track All Year Long!
One of the best ways to avoid stress at tax time is to stay organized throughout the year. Keep a folder (physical or digital) for important documents like:
• Pay stubs & W-2s
• 1099s for side gigs or freelance work
• Receipts for deductible expenses (business, education, medical, etc.)
• Donation receipts for charitable contributions
• Mileage logs if you drive for work or business
When you’re consistent about saving paperwork, tax season becomes a lot smoother—and you’re less likely to miss deductions or credits that could boost your refund!
✅ Bonus Tip: Use a budgeting app or spreadsheet to track income and expenses—your future self (and your tax preparer) will thank you.

If you claim an or ACTC, the law requires to hold the tax refund for a period to review. Barring other issues, the first of these refunds should be available by February 27, 2024, if using direct deposit. See www.irs.gov/refundtiming

Good things come to those who wait. If you claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit, your refund can take a little longer. Use the Where's My Refund tool to get an updated status by February 17. If you filed electronically, requested direct deposit and had no issues with your return, you can get your refund as early as February 27. Some taxpayers may see their refunds earlier.
