A little bookkeeping truth for today:

Messy books don't mean you have a bad business.

Sometimes they just mean you've been busy running it.

I've seen business owners put off dealing with their books because they're embarrassed that things have gotten behind.

Please don't be.

I don't look at messy books and think, "What happened here?"

I think, "Okay... where do we start?

That's what cleanup bookkeeping is for.

Small business edition of **Would You Rather?**

Would you rather...

Spend 3 hours doing your bookkeeping

OR

Spend 3 hours doing literally anything else?

I'm pretty sure I know what most of you are going to say.

But I'm curious—what business task would you happily NEVER do again if you could hand it off?

Here's a question I wish more business owners asked:

“Where did my money actually go?”

It's really easy to look at a busy month, see plenty of money coming in, and assume it was a great month.

Then you look at what's left and think...

Wait. What happened?& ;

That's where good bookkeeping becomes useful.

Your numbers aren't just something you need for taxes. They can tell you what's working, what's costing you, and where your business is actually making money.

I'll go first: Marketing myself has definitely been my biggest challenge.
