Our founder had so much fun catching up with Matthew X. Roling (him / his) about her inspiration behind Rights4Refugees. As the Executive Director of the Office of Business Innovation at Wayne State University, Matt is dedicated to helping connect the ideas and inventions of Wayne State's faculty and students with the commercial world. Amidst the Covid 19 Crisis the Refugee crisis continues. R4R remains dedicated to continuing to meet the needs of refugees in Detroit.

With the support of our partnership with United Way during the Covid 19 pandemic we doubled our community impact to support families and individuals.

We delivered 150 boxes of full size hygiene items to resettled refugees. We expanded our reach to provide 250 hygiene boxes to veterans experiencing homelessness, senior citizens and partnered with local city officials, churches and food pantries to serve other vulnerable populations in Detroit.

....And just like that we made a contact free delivery of 100 Hygiene 📦 to Freedom House.

Freedom House Detroit is a temporary home for indigent survivors of persecution from around the world who are seeking asylum in the United States and Canada.
_
Each resident has been provided with a 3-month supply of hygiene of full size hygiene products and a special note 📝 of encouragement. This means that they’re able to function better due to their basic needs being met.

Special thanks to our friend emily who helped pack the hygiene boxes. To our friends Ayia and Tariq for helping with the pickup and the contact free delivery process. Last but certainly not least to the socially conscious customers and companies who subscribe monthly to purchasing a hygiene box for those who need it most. 💙

Each year, on June 20, World Refugee Day spotlights the bravery and strength of people forced to flee their home countries to escape war or oppression.

According to the UN, which established World Refugee Day in 2000, more than 70 million people are now forcibly displaced worldwide.

The UN declared this year's theme "Every Action Counts." And although coronavirus is limiting physical opportunities to get involved this year, check out the list below to learn of some virtual actions you can take to help refugees.

Back when outside was a thing.....we had the pleasure of working with Deloitte to host a Packing Party for students at University of Michigan! That day we packaged 100 boxes for resettled refugees in Detroit. We look forward to things stabilizing until we can do this again.
