Looking at purchasing a new car can be exciting, but before you sign on the dotted line, consider a few things...

Do your research on the car you want and get pre-approved for a loan prior to arriving at the dealership. Consider a loan from a credit union as they typically have better rates.

Consider buying a pre-owned car with a warranty. This allows you to purchase a good car with low miles without the new sticker price.

Say no to lease-to-own options. You end up paying more for the vehicle in the long run.

From our families to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

11/20/2022

Thanksgiving is a time for family and fun, but after the last bit of pumpkin or sweet potato pie has been consumed and the family has left the home, you don't want to be left with the mess to clean up and also a huge expense. Here are a few things to consider as you prepare for the celebration.

1. Consider having a potluck celebration and have others bring some of the main meal items so you are not solely responsible for the expense.

2. Draft a meal plan and set a budget prior to going to the store and compare prices to find the best deals and take advantage of price matching.

3. Shop your pantry first. You will be amazed at how much food you have stored. Change the menu to make foods with items you already have in your panty

Yes, it’s almost that time of year again when we celebrate the holiday season but then later regret how much money we have spent when the new year approaches. Here are a few simple tips to consider to help you not overspend this holiday season.

1. Make a list of all who will get a gift and set a budget for each person. Remember not everyone has to get a gift. Christmas is not about gifts and black Friday is an open ticket to go crazy with your spending. Not every retailer is really having a true sale. The prices are increased and "marked down" to the regular price or similar. Buyers beware!

2. You can show you care without breaking the bank. Consider a personal gift that is thoughtful and considerate but not necessarily expensive. Sometimes these gifts can be better than store-bought gifts.

3. Buy larger ticket items with others. Combine forces and buy a gift for someone as a combined gift with another person so you decrease the cost you pay.

4. BONUS TIP: There will always be someone you forgot on your list or that co-worker who unexpectedly buys you something and you feel a need to buy something for them. Add this ‘unexpected gift’ expense to your budget for the holiday season and budget in a few gift cards to use during those times.

Should I SPEND LESS or SAVE MORE? These questions are not the same even though they can arrive at the same goal. The difference is your mindset! Spending less may sometimes feel like a punishment but saving more, perhaps for a specific goal you are excited about, may feel like a fun challenge. So next time you feel unmotivated to save. Change your mindset. Give yourself something to look forward to and it will give you a new drive and determination and invigorate you to reach your goal.

Are you naturally a spender or naturally a saver? Most of our money habits stem from our upbringing. We learn from what we see and contrary to popular opinion, being a saver is not necessarily better than being a spender. They both have positive and negative sides to consider.

If you are a saver, consider this. you may have a tendency to hoard, be greedy and not live or enjoy life. If you are a spender, you may have a tendency to give and spend in a way that financially won’t allow you to enjoy life in the future because of mounting debt and limited resources.

Both individuals have good and not-so-good qualities so know which one you are and how can you better balance your money and living life.

Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people that they don't like.
