Yesterday at the Maywood polling place, it was a pleasure to stand with Commissioner Frank Aguilar and ask locals for their votes. What a fantastic February Black History Month! I had the chance to visit Bellwood, see a fantastic Black History event where the mayor is Mayor Harvey, and spend a day with my sister's cousin Sue while seeing Dr. Willie Wilson! During Black History Month - We bid farewell to a civil rights legend, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, who served as a conduit to the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s work. We still recall the catchphrase "run Jesse run" from the 1980s. His family and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition (RPC) are in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time. He never failed to be kind and supportive, telling me to keep fighting for the people. Rev. Jackson, may you rest in peace. Your mission is accomplished.
