ATTENTION CLIENTS 🚨

The IRS has officially started taking money for balances owed from COVID years (2020, 2021, and 2022).

A lot of you are checking your refunds and seeing smaller amounts or offsets and thinking something is wrong nothing is wrong with your return.

During COVID, the IRS paused collections. That pause is now OVER.

This means if you owed the IRS, student loans, child support, or any government debt, they can legally take that money from your refund before you receive it.

I do NOT control offsets. I prepare and file your return correctly based on the information provided. The IRS makes the final decision on releasing your funds.

If your refund is reduced, the IRS will send you a letter explaining exactly why.

This is exactly why I tell everyone to check your transcripts and stay on top of your tax situation year-round.

Stop assuming something is wrong with your preparer when the IRS is collecting old debt.
