Honored to have made this presentation.
Just because there’s money in your business bank account doesn’t mean your business is making money. 👀
That was one of several eye-opening takeaways from last week’s featured presentation by Scott Alford, owner of Alford Bookkeeping, LLC, at BNI Lakeland Profit Builders!
Scott shared real examples of business owners dealing with everything from three years of duplicated QuickBooks transactions to bookkeeping so far behind that tax returns hadn’t been filed.
And he made an excellent point: Your bookkeeping should help you run your business, not just survive tax season.
A few lessons worth remembering:
💰 Cash in the bank isn’t the same as profit. Without accurate financial reports, you’re guessing.
📊 Keep business and personal finances separate. Clean records mean a clearer picture of how your business is actually performing.
📅 Don’t wait until tax season. Your numbers should be helping you make decisions all year long.
Scott also explained the difference between a bookkeeper and a CPA with a great analogy: Think of your business finances like a house. Your bookkeeper keeps it clean and organized throughout the year, while your CPA helps inspect the structure and plan for the future.
But what stood out most was the heart behind the business Scott and his wife, Dana, have built.
Business owners didn’t start their businesses to spend their evenings reconciling accounts and chasing receipts.
They started them to do something they’re passionate about.
From bookkeeping and payroll to QuickBooks setup and cleaning up financial records, Alford Bookkeeping helps owners get back to doing what they do best.
And their mission says it all:
“Where our family saves you time for yours.” ❤️
Thank you, Scott, for a fantastic presentation and for reminding us that sometimes the most valuable thing you can give a business owner isn’t more money.
It’s more time.
Know a business owner who’s drowning in bookkeeping or constantly playing catch-up? Scott and Dana might be exactly who they need to meet!
