October has a way of sharpening our focus. The year is winding down, the to-do lists are getting longer, and there is a quiet but real pressure to finish strong.

This quote is a good one to carry into the final stretch. Having a vision is one thing, but doing the work to make it real is another. That is where leadership, whether in business, on a team, or in your own life, truly lives.

As you head into the rest of October, what is one vision you are actively working to bring to life right now? Share it in the comments. We would love to cheer you on.

The 2027-2028 FAFSA is open as of October 1, 2026. If you or a student you support plans to attend college during the 2027–2028 academic year, it is a good idea to get started on the process early. So, with that in mind, our team wanted to share a few early steps that can help streamline the process:

🔹Create or verify your StudentAid.gov account.
🔹Gather essential financial documentation, including 2025 tax returns, W-2s, and income records.
🔹Determine which parent(s) or contributor(s) will be required to provide information, if necessary.
🔹Review college, state, and scholarship deadlines, as many institutions award aid on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the federal FAFSA deadline is June 30, 2028, many colleges and states set earlier priority deadlines for aid consideration, so submitting your application early can improve access to institutional, state, and need-based aid.

If you have questions about college funding strategies or how education expenses align with your overall financial plan, please contact our office. We are here to assist you.

MYTH: “I have life insurance through my employer, so I'm covered.”

💍Employer-provided life insurance can be valuable.

🤔But is it enough?

❓And what happens to that coverage if you change jobs or retire?

🧩Your employer's benefit is one piece of the puzzle. Your family's actual financial
needs should determine how much coverage you need.

As we settle into September and the rhythms of a new season, it is a natural time to step back and ask a bigger question: What are we actually building toward?

For many business owners, the first answer that comes to mind is success. But Albert Einstein's perspective challenges us to go a little deeper. Success, he suggests, is not the goal itself. It tends to follow when we focus on something more meaningful: the value we create for others.

As you move through this month, we would love to hear from you: In your business or your work, what is one way you are focused on creating real value for the people you serve? Share it in the comments. We would love to hear your perspective!

❓Should you convert your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA?

🤔The answer isn't automatically yes—or no.

👀A Roth conversion generally means paying taxes today in exchange for the potential for tax-free qualified withdrawals later.

📆But the decision involves more than comparing today's tax rate with tomorrow's.

💁Your income, tax bracket, retirement timeline, other income sources, and the size of the conversion can all matter.

🗣️Sometimes the best answer is to convert part of your IRA rather than all of it.
