Avoid closing old accounts:
Length of credit history is an essential component of your credit score. Even if you're not actively using an old credit card, consider keeping it open as long as there are no annual fees or other costs associated with it. Closing old accounts may shorten your credit history and lower your score.
Do you know what A FOLLOW SUIT LETTER IS??
Consumers can Send this letter when one bureau deletes an item and the others don’t. The goal here is to get the bureaus to delete an item because the other bureau(s) did.

Removing Collections:
STEP 1: SEND A DEBT VALIDATION LETTER -- The first time that you receive a collection letter, phone call or find an active collection listing on your credit report. You will need to send this letter to the credit bureaus (you can send a copy of this dispute letter to the collection agency as well.)
THE CREDIT BUREAUS BY LAW ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE VALIDATED PROOF THAT THE COLLECTION(S) ARE ACCURATE. IF THEY CAN’T PROVIDE PROOF OF VALIDITY OR FAIL TO RESPOND TO YOUR LETTERS IN 30 DAYS THE CREDIT BUREAUS MUST DELETE THE LISTINGS IMMEDIATELy.
STEP 2- SEND A FAILURE TO VALIDATE LETTER – If the credit bureau or collection agency fails to respond to your letters in 30 days and or fails to provide you with validated proof of the Collection(s) but continues to report the collection(s) on your credit report. Use this letter! Also use this letter if the credit bureaus or collection agency respond to your letter by sending you a bill, or statement! In all scenarios send the credit bureau(s) a FAILURE TO VALIDATE letter.
SEND THESE LETTERS BY CERTIFIED MAIL TO KEEP TRACK OF WHEN THE CREDIT BUREAUS RECEIVE YOUR LETTER.
💡If the credit bureaus fail to remove the Collection(s) after receiving your Failure to Validate letter, you are now eligible to file a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau complaint AGAINST the Credit Bureau(s) for FAILURE TO VALIDATE DEBT! by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
