💭 So here’s a lil FYI about the Landlord Surcharge in Trinidad 🇹🇹

Landlords have to pay a Landlord Surcharge on the rent they collect — 2.5%/3.5% (based on rental income)

So if a landlord making $54,000 a year in rent (and that’s their only income), they wouldn’t have to pay income tax, because that only kicks in after $90,000.

BUT they still have to pay that 2.5% surcharge — which works out to about $1,350.

And technically… they’re not supposed to pass that cost on to tenants 👀
