Update on GST Changes

Starting from 1 Jan 2023, transactions will reflect 8% GST
Starting from 1 jan 2024, transactions will reflect 9% GST

GST changes affects both new application & renewals
- Hospital / Integrated Shield plans
- Eldershield / Careshield supplements
- General Insurance like home / Fire / Office / Car insurance
- Investment transactions (This increase is negligible)

[You may be wondering what about life insurance, critical illness, endowment plans?]

M*F has provided an explanation

GST is a tax on domestic consumption of goods and services, and not on savings

GST is not payable for life insurance premiums because these contain a savings component. Since in practice it is difficult to separate out the savings element from the protection services offered by the insurance, the Government decided to exempt life insurance premiums from GST altogether.
