Update: President Asif Ali Zardari has upheld an order issued by the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO), which directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to take disciplinary action against officers who took coercive measures against a taxpayer while his appeal was still pending before the first appellate forum.

In the budget for FY 2025, the government projected a collection target of Rs. 12.97tr, more than 40pc higher than the collection set for FY 2024.
