What is the Rule of 72?

The Rule of 72 is a simple way to estimate how long it will take for your money to double.

Just divide 72 by the interest rate.

For example:
If your investment earns 6% per year,
72 ÷ 6 = 12 years.
That means your money can double in about 12 years.

It Works the Other Way Too!

If you want to know what interest rate you need to double your money in a certain time:

72 ÷ number of years = needed interest rate

Example:
You want to double your money in 10 years:

72 ÷ 10 = 7.2%

You need around 7.2% annual return.

The higher the return, the faster your money grows.

It’s a quick reminder that time and interest are powerful partners when building wealth.
