👉 Ang HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) ay usually binibigay ng employer. Covered ka for check-ups, lab tests, confinement, at iba’t ibang basic medical needs — pero madalas may limit o cap per year. Kapag naubos na, ikaw na ulit ang sasalo sa gastos.

👉 Ang Health Insurance naman, personal mong investment. Ito yung nagbibigay ng mas malaking coverage para sa critical illness, long-term hospital needs, at kahit cash benefit na ikaw ang magde-decide kung saan gagamitin — pampaospital, pambayad ng bills, o pang-pondo habang nagpapagaling ka.

Kaya kung may HMO ka, good start na ‘yan! Pero kung may Health Insurance ka rin, doble proteksyon at mas panatag ang future mo. Tandem sila, parang seatbelt at airbag, parehong kailangan para mas buo ang proteksyon mo. 🚑💛

“Akala ko ‘di ko na kailangan ng MRI kasi may life insurance na ako…”

Tama naman siya. Pero may kulang.

Ito kasi ang totoo:

✔️ Pwede mong gamitin ang existing life insurance mo bilang Mortgage Redemption Insurance (MRI)
❗ Pero kailangan mo itong ipa-assign as collateral sa Pag-IBIG

Ibig sabihin, kung may mangyari sa’yo (knock on wood), ang Pag-IBIG ang unang babayaran ng insurance company mo…hindi ang pamilya mo.

Pero teka…hindi lahat mapupunta sa Pag-IBIG.

Kung mas malaki ang coverage ng insurance mo kaysa sa loan mo?

✅ Yung sobra, mapupunta pa rin sa beneficiaries mo.

Panalo ka pa rin. Protektado ang bahay, at may maiiwan ka pa sa pamilya mo.

Paano gawin ‘to?

1. I-check ang coverage ng insurance mo. Dapat sapat ito para bayaran ang utang mo sa Pag-IBIG.

2. I-request sa insurance provider mo na gawing primary beneficiary si Pag-IBIG Fund—as irrevocable mortgagee.

3. Humingi ka ng assignment letter or endorsement from your insurer.

4. Isubmit ito sa Pag-IBIG para i-acknowledge nila as valid MRI substitute.

5. At syempre, tuloy-tuloy ang bayad mo sa insurance premium. Para covered ka hanggang fully paid na ‘yung loan mo.
