Thoughts? Here are my thoughts as an insurance professional:

1. VUL is NOT a stand-alone investment plan. It has insurance components of which the frustrated client did not mention how much she/he was covered for. In those 3 years, I am for sure you were covered for millions. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆’𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆.

Imagine nagkasakit ka within a year or two years from the issuance of the policy, saan ka kukuha ng 1M na money other than your own bank, that is if meron ka 1M na naka tago, pero if gagastos ka na lang din sa sakit or disability, gusto mo pa ba kumuha sa funds na dapat para sa magaan na buhay ng mga mahal mo sa buhay? 🤔 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲: 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗸𝗮 𝗶𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟭𝗠 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.

3. Based on my computation, this person was paying around ₱2,500 monthly for the policy. Do you know anybody who got rich saving this amount for just 3 years? No. Because wealth is built over time. And please manage your expectations based on the amount you invest.

4. VULs have insurance charges lalo na sa first 2-3 years. Para kang nag hire ng body guard for your assets, tapos expect mo walang fees?

5. Investment is not guaranteed, just like BTID and MP2. Just like when you open a business, walang guaranteed. But you can make wise decisions based on factual numbers. Per company iba iba ang performance, and per company, iba iba rin ang pinaglalaanang funds. Again, ask from a professional.

6. Insurance agents have commissions just like all other professionals. We undergo trainings, coaching and mentoring locally and internationally, and that’s not free for everybody to enjoy 🤔 But I bet you can meet a lot of agents who are willing to help you learn more about the importance of insurance and investment for FREE. That’s our mission for Filipinos, to become financially literate.
