There will always be someone “better” than you in some capacity.
There will always be someone smarter. There will always be someone more creative and articulate and well-liked. Someone thinner and more conventionally attractive. Someone more knowledgable and skilled and better able to execute what you’re striving towards. But that doesn’t invalidate the strengths you bring to the table. It doesn’t mean you’re inadequate or that you’ll never be the version of yourself you want to be. That’s just part of what it means to be human. And it’s okay. We’re all at different places on our journey. We’re all a product of different histories. We all have different struggles and limitations. Different resources and barriers. And so, what we’re able to give and create is going to look different.

You may not be like other people. You may not be as “good” or as “skilled”. And there will always be someone objectively “better” - but there will never be another you. There’s no one else with your unique perspective and lived experience. No one else with your unique combination of strengths and talents and triumphs. No one else with your exact story or insight. And all those specific pieces mean something. They allow you to bring gifts to the table no one else can give. To share things no one else can share. Just by showing up in the world as your authentic self. Just by waking up and honoring who you are. And that’s magic. You are magic. There’s no one else on the planet quite like you, and that’s your strength.

Other people have strengths too, but they don’t discount your own. No matter what anyone else can give, what you have to offer is still important and meaningful. No matter how you compare, who you are is incredible and enough.
