First of all, almost everything involves money. Every day, we are faced with financial decisions, whether it is where we eat, what we buy, traveling, going out with friends, or negotiating rates. Young adults lack the experience and education necessary to make these important decisions.

A survey conducted by Forbes showed that 51% of the Millennials believe their lack of personal finance knowledge is preventing them from progressing financially. And they are correct: it is preventing them from reaching their greatest potential. Financial literacy encourages people to save money and form positive saving habits, teaches responsibility and awareness through budgeting, and leads to financial abundance through the appropriate investments.

Agree ka ba rito? For you, should financial literacy be taught in school? ๐Ÿค”

Today, letโ€™s talk about financial literacy in the Philippines.

Data from numerous analyses and studies revealed that just 23% of adult Filipinos have bank accounts, according to the governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Benjamin Diokno. Barely 18% of Filipinos have insurance coverage, and only 3% invest in financial products.

Nakakalungkot diba? ๐Ÿ˜ž In comparison to other developing and surrounding countries, the Philippines is even considered to have one of the lowest financial literacy rates.

Thatโ€™s why we, the League of Young Financial Educators are motivated to pursue financial literacy here in our country. Lalong lalo na among millennials and Gen Zs who are starting their journey towards financial independence and abundance!

Ikaw, tingin mo bakit mababa ang financial literacy rate ng mga Pilipino? ๐Ÿค”
