Local coffee and restaurant chain Figaro Coffee Group Inc. plans to raise P1.77 billion through an initial public offering.

Figaro files an IPO with PHP 1.26 billion common shares with an over-allotment option for another 126 million common shares at P1.28 per share.

The net proceeds from the maiden share offering will be used to fund store and commissary expansion, debt repayment and potential acquisitions.

Figaro currently operates 90 restaurants and branches nationwide, including 52 Figaro coffee shops, 31 Angel’s Pizza outlets, five Tien Ma’s Taiwanese cuisine restaurants, one TFG Express outlet, and one Café Portofino outlet.

Megaworld earmarks P98B to build business district in Bulacan Tycoon Andrew Tan-led Megaworld Corp. on Wednesday announced its plan to develop a 85-hectare land along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in the municipalities of Marilao and Bocaue in Bulacan into a “global business district.”

'Utang na loob'

While it is characteristically expected in a society that honors family, it has also become the go-to emotional manipulation tactic for so many elders.

Sacrificing for your children to meet their needs is a parents duty the moment they decide to have children. But it seems that they transfer that burden to either the eldest or to whomever is gullible to fulfill their familial duty. And those brave to set limits are seen as ungrateful and shunned by society.

If we continue with this 'expectation to oblige children to honor their utang na loob' then the sandwich generation will indeed perpetuate.

If this is the case, will there ever be progress available from ones family line?
