The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commends the Marcos administration for enacting the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act (CMEPA), which was signed into law on May 29. The new law lowers taxes on various capital market transactions to boost investor participation.

SEC Chairperson Emilio B. Aquino said the CMEPA will help make capital markets more accessible, strengthen investor trust, and support a more dynamic and investor-friendly financial system.
