Do you know that the average "out-of-pocket" share for hospitalization in the Philippines is 60%?

Meaning if si Juan ay na-ospital at nagkaroon sya ng medical bill na 100k, 60k ang amount na kanyang babayaran sa ospital at yung natitirang 40k ay isshoulder ng kanyang health insurance, may it be from Philhealth, SSS or personal health insurance.

But, do you know also that there's only 2% ng mga Pilipino ang merong private/personal health insurance?

68% of the total population naman ay umaasa lamang sa health insurance na maibibigay ng Philhealth & SSS, which I believe, and I know that you will agree with this, that is NOT ENOUGH.

There are almost 1.5M Filipino families that are being pushed to poverty because of health-care expenditures yearly.

HMO plans and government-initiated programs and benefits MAY STILL NOT BE ENOUGH to support one's medical needs as hospitals may charge even more.

The purpose of this post is not to scare anyone, but to INFORM. If you feel like you need to reinforce your health insurance plan, take action and talk to your trusted Financial Advisor today!

Same goes to your money/savings.
How do you save?
Do you put all your savings in the bank? OR
Do you diversify your savings into Emergency fund, Retirement fund, Investments (stocks, real estate etc), Insurance, HMO, Short term/Long term savings?

Many of us wish to step back and enjoy the good life in our senior years. This is why retirement planning is important.

When youโ€™re young, you have a lot of time but little money. In your working years, you have money but little time. Such conundrum is the reason why retirement is something that a lot of people are really looking forward to because it enables us to finally enjoy both our time and our money all at the same time.

But itโ€™s not all rainbows and butterflies upon retirement - there are still many things that can go wrong financially. Itโ€™s best to be informed so that youโ€™ll know what to anticipate and avoid when you retire. Here are the top 10 mistakes of retirees:

The fact is, you will probably live about 15 to 20 years more upon retirement (even longer hopefully). As such, you will still need to grow some of your money and invest a portion on some ๐™œ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ฉ๐™-๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™จ like equity funds. While it is advisable to reduce the percentage of your portfolio in more ๐™ง๐™ž๐™จ๐™ -๐™ค๐™ง๐™ž๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™จ, donโ€™t totally remove them.

Inflation will not retire just because you did. ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง ๐™ง๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ง๐™š๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™›๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™™๐™จ ๐™ฌ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก ๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™š๐™™ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™œ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฌ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™˜๐™–๐™ฉ๐™˜๐™ ๐™ช๐™ฅ ๐™ฌ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™›๐™ก๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ; which is why I recommended investing in some equity funds during retirement.

The rule on investing still applies during retirement: Maintain a healthy portfolio of cash, money market investments, bonds or bond funds, and a small portion on equity or equity funds.

A common behavior among retirees is they rush into a spending spree. Retirement to others is liberating and the urge to live beyond your means is a very strong temptation. Donโ€™t rush. You still have a lot of time, so take it slow.

You probably will need more than just a will. ๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€. 60 or 65 is still a relatively young age, so the need for medical concerns is not yet taken seriously. However, while the spirit is still willing, the body is not and it will be good to provide for a time when we will experience physical ailments.

The need to ๐™™๐™ค ๐™– ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ง๐™ž๐™ค๐™™๐™ž๐™˜ ๐™ง๐™š๐™ซ๐™ž๐™š๐™ฌ ๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™›๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™š๐™จ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™จ should be a primary concern of any retiree. While it is not a good idea to worry too much, being too carefree is not a prudent thing to do. As I said earlier, you still have a long time to go.

Seriously? SSS is meant for a retiree to survive, not for a retiree to enjoy his retirement. Do the math - ๐™ฃ๐™ค ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™š ๐™˜๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™ก๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š ๐™– ๐™™๐™š๐™˜๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™ก๐™ž๐™›๐™š ๐™ฌ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ ๐™Ÿ๐™ช๐™จ๐™ฉ ๐™Ž๐™Ž๐™Ž ๐™—๐™š๐™ฃ๐™š๐™›๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™จ.

While I recommend that a retiree should still be investing, going into high risk or speculative endeavors might not be a really good idea.

Alas, while prudence is key during retirement, fear is a very crippling mindset. So long as you follow common sense and have done your best in preparing for retirement, try to relax as this is what retirement is all about. If you are always fearful that your wealth will not be sufficient during your retirement, you may not live long enough to actually enjoy that wealth.

In anything about life, balance is key. You have to prepare properly for retirement but you need to enjoy it as well. Ultimately, it is best to secure an insurance that can cover for your
