Can HR protect the organization without sacrificing fairness, integrity, and humanity?

Perhaps it’s time to stop promising employees that HR is “on their side.” Instead, HR should promise something even more valuable:

“We will treat every person with fairness, confidentiality, consistency, and respect, even when the outcome isn’t what you hoped for.”

This may not make everyone happy, but it might be the first step toward rebuilding trust.
