I've Never Done This Before. But Here Goes.
I've structured IPOs. Led M&As. Sat in boardrooms as a CFO. Built portfolios that deliver 9-27% returns.
But fundraising? For a charity event?
This is my first time.
I didn't grow up organising galas or writing grant proposals. I grew up in audit, in investment banking, in the world of numbers and deals.
But somewhere along the way – perhaps when I visited those children's homes and saw their smiles despite everything – something shifted.
I realised I have skills. I have a network. I have a platform.
But I had no idea how to turn all of that into help.
So, I'm learning. Messily. Publicly.
I'm learning how to coordinate with children's homes. How to price tickets. How to convince speakers to donate their time. How to write posts like this without cringing.
And I'm learning that asking for help is not weakness. It's the only way anything gets done.
So here is my ask:
On Sunday, 21st June, Kiwanis Club of Visionaries and Beyond Insights are hosting Network for Impact – a day of market insights, meaningful networking, and real conversation about entrepreneurship.

Proceeds go to children's homes. Workbooks. Tuition teachers. Keeping the lights on for kids who have already lost so much.
I don't have a polished fundraising pitch. I don't have decades of experience in this.
But I have a deep, stubborn belief that people who can help, should.
If you've been meaning to attend something meaningful this year – this, is it.
And thank you. For reading. For considering. For being part of my very first fundraising attempt.
Let's learn together.

We Extended the Deadline. Here's Why…
When we first set the early bird cut-off for our Network for Impact event, we thought we had it right.
But then something happened.
The messages started coming in. From business owners. From professionals. From entrepreneurs who said: "I really want to come. I need to be in that room. But I just saw the post. Is it too late?"
One message, in particular, stayed with me.
A mid-career professional wrote: "Katherine, I've been following your content for months. I've never attended anything like this. But with everything happening in the markets – the war, the oil prices, the uncertainty – I feel like I can't afford to stay ignorant anymore. Please tell me I haven't missed the chance."
I read that and thought: We cannot turn people away who are ready to learn.
So, we made a decision.
The early bird rate of RM150 has been extended to 31st May 2026.
Not because we're bad at deadlines. But because we believe that everyone who wants to show up for their financial future – and for the children these proceeds support – should have that opportunity.

The early bird window is now open until 31st May.
Don't wait until the next headline makes you wish you had.
Let's fill that room with people ready to learn, connect, and give back.
The Headlines Are Screaming. Here's What Smart Investors Do Instead.
Geopolitical tensions. Oil price shocks. Inflation fears. Every news alert seems designed to make you want to sell everything and hide in cash.
But here's what 30+ years of trading global markets has taught us: The biggest risk is not market volatility. It is reacting to it emotionally.
At Network for Impact, we're bringing together business owners and serious investors for an intimate roundtable discussion on:
- Navigating global market turbulence
- Identifying opportunities hidden in the chaos
- Building resilient portfolios that weather any storm

The cost of human behaviour…
The 1.2% That Could Cost You Years of Retirement
I once worked with a client who had done everything right.
Saved diligently. Invested consistently. Lived within his means.
But when retirement arrived, something shifted. He started watching the news obsessively. Every market dip triggered a call. Every "expert" prediction made him second-guess his plan. He sold after one decline—locking in losses—then watched from the sidelines as the market rebounded without him.
He didn't lose his retirement. But he lost years of potential growth that he will never get back.
A recent Kiplinger article, citing Morningstar research, found that behavioural mistakes cost investors an average of 1.2% annually. That number sounds small. But in retirement—when there's less time to recover—it can be devastating.
The article outlines seven common behaviours that hurt retirees:
1. Holding cash without a purpose – Cash isn't bad. Cash without a job is.
2. Timing the market – Selling after a decline lock in losses and often means missing the rebound.
3. Ignoring tax efficiency – Not all dollars are taxed the same. Withdrawal order matters.
4. Chasing yield without understanding risk – A high distribution rate means nothing if the principal can drop 20%.
5. Failing to rebalance – Risk drifts without discipline. A portfolio that was balanced at 65 may be dangerous at 75.
6. Overreacting to short-term news – Daily monitoring creates daily stress. Quarterly reviews create calm.
7. Neglecting to adjust over time – The plan that worked at 65 may not fit at 85.
Here's what I want you to understand: These are not intelligence problems. They are behaviour problems. And behaviour can be changed.
The best thing I do for my clients is not picking the perfect fund. It's being the calm voice when headlines scream. It's building a structure—waves of cash for near-term spending, diversified growth for long-term security—so that fear never forces a bad decision.
You cannot control the markets. You can control your behaviour in them.
If any of these seven behaviours feel familiar, let's talk. Not about predictions. About structure.

Networking Event of the Year!
One Day. Three Powerful Reasons to Show Up.
On Sunday, 21st June, something meaningful is happening.
We're calling it Network for Impact.
Not just another business event. Not just a charity drive. A deliberate gathering for entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders who want three things:
1. Genuine Networking (That Actually Works)
No cold handshakes with strangers. Every attendee's photo, bio, and contact details will be shared in a digital booklet a full week before. You'll walk in already knowing who you want to meet.
2. World-Class Insights
Beyond Insights – Malaysia's premier investment training provider – will present *"Navigating Global Markets: Finding Opportunities & Managing Turbulence."* Think Fed policy, tariffs, currency shifts, and how entrepreneurs can build resilience into their portfolios.
3. Real Impact for Children
Proceeds go to children's homes. Representatives from 2–3 homes will share their stories in person. You won't just write a cheque. You'll see the faces of the lives you're helping.
Why Entrepreneurs? Because you live at the intersection of challenge and opportunity. This day speaks directly to that.
Spaces are limited. Curated networking means curated numbers.
