Last month, a friend shared with me about his brother.

It all started with a small injury on his foot. At first, it didn’t seem serious… but within days, things got worse. Because he’s diabetic, the wound just wouldn’t heal.

He had to be admitted to a government hospital. But for the first three days, the hospital was so full that he couldn’t even get a proper bed… he was stuck lying on a sofa. Imagine being in pain, fighting an infection, and still not having a bed to rest on. The surgery he needed could only be arranged after a full week in the hospital.

What makes it even sadder is that he never had medical insurance. Since young, he struggled with obesity, and because of that, he was rejected whenever he tried applying. Without coverage, he couldn’t enjoy the comfort, options, and faster treatment of a private hospital. Instead, he’s left to face this hardship with limited choices.
