Most Kenyan investors prioritize wealth creation but neglect wealth protection;

True financial planning has three stages:

a) Wealth Creation — stocks, bonds, real estate, business. Building assets.

b) Wealth Protection — insurance that protects against death, illness, job loss.

c) Legacy Planning — wills, trusts, succession planning.

Most of us only focus on the first step.
But if something happens to you before steps 2 and 3 are in place...

All that wealth you worked so hard to build could go to waste. Or worse — spark conflict.

The must have tools for wealth protection are:
a) A medical cover
b) A Whole life cover

What’s the essence of a whole life cover?

Whole life insurance connects wealth protection and estate planning.

It protects your loved ones while you’re alive and guarantees a tax-free payout that provides immediate liquidity for your family or trust fund.

It’s not contested in court and is typically paid out within two weeks once the required documents are submitted.

What is whole life insurance and how does it work?

1. This is not an investment.

It’s a form of life insurance that pays out a certain amount of money (called sum assured) in the event of death of the policy holder(the person taking the cover)

It also has living benefits called riders that include critical illness benefit (pays out incases when the policy holder is diagnosed with a critical illness such as an advanced cancer stage, a major organ transplant, etc)

And an accident cover benefit that pays out in case the policy holder is permanently disabled from an accident.

If you're reading this and it’s making you think…
✅ If you’ve built something and want to protect it
▶️ If you have people you love and want to secure their future
✅ If you’ve been meaning to “sort this out” but keep putting it off…

Let’s talk.

Drop me a DM or text me the word “COVER” on WhatsApp via [+254793410596].

I’ll walk you through the options — no pressure, no jargon, no obligation.

Just real, honest help to protect the people who matter most

Kenya Power is the most mispriced stock in the NSE energy sector, and this chart shows why:

$KPLC earned a 20.7% ROE in FY26, the highest in the peer set by a wide margin. KenGen earns 3.6%, TotalEnergies 8.0%, Kenya Pipeline 10.0%.

Yet KPLC trades at just 0.35x book value. Kenya Pipeline, earning half the return, trades at 1.7x.

Normally, higher returns on equity command a higher price-to-book. KPLC breaks that relationship completely.

SACCOs will continue to lose popularity more so among young people:

1. Scandals everyday. Is SASRA sleeping on the job? Where did the KUSCCO scandal end?

2. Inflexible terms on share capital transfer and access of BOSA savings

3. Competition from other investment products, more so collective investment schemes and the stock market

4. The only good thing left in SACCOs is friendly loans

5 NSE stocks to buy this week 🇰🇪📈

Combined, they offer upside of 19% to 60% from current prices, backed by strong H1 2026 numbers, cheap valuations and rising dividends.

Here's the list and the case for each 🧵👇

1. Car & General (C&G)
Price: 287.00 | Target: 460.00 | Upside: 60.27%

• H1 2026 PAT up 308.8% to KES 2.60 Bn
• Revenue up 30.0% to KES 15.64 Bn
• Monthly two-wheeler sales up 71.4% to 12,000 units
• Associate income up 382.3% to KES 2.04 Bn

2. Equity Group
Price: 105.75 | Target: 158.00 | Upside: 49.41%

• ROE of 27.3% vs a 20.7% sector median
• Trades at 4.6x PE vs a 6.3x sector median
• PAT up 31.5% to KES 87.6 Bn, the largest profit pool in banking
• Non-funded income makes up 45% of revenue

3. KPLC
Price: 23.40 | Target: 31.25 | Upside: 33.55%

• FY26 PAT up 2.1% to KES 24.99 Bn (EPS 12.81)
• Trades at 1.8x earnings and 0.35x book with a 20.7% ROE
• Underlying PBT up 18.2% to KES 36.6 Bn as units sold rose 12.1%

KPLC is also deleveraging:

• KES 8.1 Bn net debt repaid, cutting finance costs 34.7% to KES 3.08 Bn
• DPS raised 50% to KES 1.50, covered 8.5x by earnings

A 1.8x PE utility paying down debt and hiking dividends. Hard to ignore.

4. KCB Group
Price: 93.00 | Target: 114.24 | Upside: 22.84%

• H1 2026 PAT up 14.0% to KES 36.87 Bn
• Net NPLs down 45.1% to KES 43.31 Bn; gross NPL ratio now 14.6%
• Interim DPS up 50% to KES 3.00, targeting a 50% payout
• 21.0% ROE at 4.1x earnings and 0.8x book

5. Kenya Re
Price: 4.09 | Target: 4.87 | Upside: 19.07%

• H1 2026 PAT up 42.8% to KES 2.25 Bn
• Insurance revenue up 14.4% to KES 9.44 Bn
• Insurance service result up 314.6%, helped by a 2.2% cut in service expenses

The common thread: earnings growth the market hasn't priced in yet.

Two banks with 20%+ ROE below 5x earnings, a utility at 0.35x book, and two turnaround stories posting triple-digit growth.

Which one are you adding this week? 👇

The NSE is having a year 🇰🇪

2026 YTD:
NASI: +32.8%
Nasdaq: +16.5%
S&P 500: +13.1%

Nairobi has roughly doubled Wall Street this year.

So should you invest local or global? Here's how they compare 🧵 [attach graphic]

2/
Before chasing the winner: the shilling has held steady near KES 129.7/$, so NSE gains held up in dollar terms too.

But past returns don't predict future returns. The real question isn't "which market won 2026?" It's "which fits my goals?"

3/
Minimum investment

NSE: the price of one share. Safaricom trades around KES 36, so that's your entry ticket.

Global: most platforms offer fractional shares from $1. You can own a slice of a $500 stock with $10.

4/
Brokers

NSE: AIB-AXYS Africa, Faida Investment Bank, among others.

Global: Interactive Brokers, Hisa, Ndovu, Scope Markets.

5/
How to choose

NSE: every broker plugs into the same central trading platform and charges similar fees. The difference is customer support and research.

Global: go for low fees, access to the assets you want, and a stable, easy-to-use app.

6/
Tax (this one matters)

NSE: 5% withholding tax on dividends. Capital gains on listed shares currently not taxed.

US stocks: 30% withholding on dividends for non-residents. Gains depend on your jurisdiction.

Talk to a tax advisor.

7/
That tax gap shapes the playbook:

NSE → dividend income. Think StanChart, Stanbic, BAT.

Global → capital growth. A 30% dividend haircut makes US yield plays less attractive, so focus on growth.

8/
ETFs are the global shortcut.

One ticker = hundreds of companies. You also get dollar exposure, a hedge if the shilling weakens over time.

9/
Trading hours

NSE: Mon–Fri, 9AM–3PM EAT
NYSE/Nasdaq: 4:30PM–11PM EAT

Heads up: US clocks change on Nov 1, so from then it's 5:30PM–12AM EAT until March.

10/
My take: it's not either/or.

NSE for income and home-market upside. Global for growth and currency diversification.

Size each one based on your goals and time horizon.

✅ Money Market Funds (KES & USD) for regular savings
✅ Treasury Bills & Bonds for steady, government-backed income
✅ NSE stocks for capital growth and dividends
✅ ETFs & global stocks for easy diversification
✅ Eurobonds for USD passive income
✅ REITs for real estate exposure without buying property
✅ Bitcoin for those comfortable with higher risk

The best investment isn't the one with the highest return. It's the one that fits your goals, timeline, and risk appetite. Start small, stay consistent, and let time do the heavy lifting. ⏳📈
