Which Road ?

Yesterday I went to town using public means. I normally use public means when I am not attending very important meetings that would require me to reach in style. (How you reach is very important in business). After my errands in town, I went to the stage to board a vehicle back to Kitengela. So I had two choices, I want to reach faster, I could use the express way that was charging Ksh 160 or I use the normal route but I will have to spend some time in traffic but then I pay Kshs100. It was 8pm. I stood there transfixed, which way? Should I use the express way and pay ksh 60 more or I just use the normal route?
Finally I decided to use the express way coz I wanted to save on time.
Now the most painful bit is, while on the express way, the vehicles in the normal route were going at the same speed as our vehicle. There was no traffic all the way on mombasa road up to Mlolongo which is the end of the express way. You can imagine what I was feeling with my extra Kshs 60.
How many would have had the same feeling?

Imagine if there could be traffic and others were suffering on the same traffic, I would feel better and I would have really roared at how better I made the right choice.
Can you imagine that sometimes you want to make a choice and feel that your choice is right when the alternative choice is frustrating the choice makers. When others who did not agree with your decision go the other way you think they would suffer and if they don't you feel bad. Why?
When you walk away from a relationship and you think the other partner should suffer after you left then they don't , you feel bad about it because it does not happen , don't you think it is a devilish thought?
Whichever, the way you make your financial, psychological or otherwise any choice make it with your objectives in mind but not the aftermath results to other people. Being selfish is natural, avoiding it is a deliberate effort that you have to make.
Applaud others on their successes and wish everybody well, your day is coming. If you think it's only you who should succeed, who should receive credit always, who should be recommended all the time, who should be on top always, then, you will develop selfish feelings on other people's success.
Take responsibility when you are wrong, allow corrections and you will boost your confidence and esteem and you will be a lovable buddy.
