Job responsibilities: Assist in the ex*****on of the day-to-day financial operations of the company. Including receivables, payables, and reconciliations. Work closely with the Accountants to ensure timely preparation of Management accounts.

The qualification, experience and skills of the Junior Accountant include the following:
• Minimum academic qualification: a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Pursuit of a professional certification such as ACCA, CPA is desired.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting working in a manufacturing, distribution or retail environment is preferred.
Skills:
• Attention to detail: The Junior Accountant will have responsibility to reconcile accounts, noticing any discrepancies and miscalculations. This requires strong observation skills and keen attention to detail.
• Problem-solving skills: Work closely with the accounting team and upper management. The ability to identify a problem and resolve it appropriately is critical to working effectively in this role.
• Skill with technology: should be adept with technology. Proficiency with accounting software (Oracle), Microsoft Office Suite programs and standard email are all key elements of delivering the level of results which will be required.
• Communication: The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

About the Job
Reporting to the CEO, the role is responsible for leading the daily operations of the human resource department including onboarding, talent acquisition, labour laws, training, staff development, performance review, develop and maintain HR policies.

Desired Candidate Profile
• Minimum of a first degree in Human Resource Management or a business-related discipline which includes the study of Human Resources from an accredited institution.
• At least three (3) years’ experience working in Human Resources or Administration at the management level
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications
• Sound knowledge of the Jamaican Labour Laws and HR best practices

• Excellent verbal and written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills along with excellent interpersonal skills.

A fast-growing distribution and processing company seeks to recruit a suitably qualified individual for the position of Chief Accountant.

Chief Accountant
The Chief Accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager to prepare Financial Statements, Management Reports and Budgets. In addition, the selected candidate will have general oversight of the accounting and finance functions and processes to achieve the strategic objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
• Overseeing general accounting activities to ensure completeness and accuracy of all financial transactions
• Timely preparation of monthly financial statements and related reports
• Assist in the preparation of company forecasts and budgets
• Assist in implementing and maintaining a strong system of internal controls that is effective in securing the Company's assets
• Assist in the organization of periodic inventory counts
• Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations
• Oversee timely reconciliation of all Bank Accounts, subledgers and supplier statement reconciliations

Requirements:
• Accounting designation - ACCA, MSc Accounting or CPA required
• 3+ years senior accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities along with 2 years Audit Experience
• Proven success managing an Accounting Department and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Possesses solid organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership and analytical skills
• Sound Knowledge of Sage 300 would be an asset
• This role is very hands-on, that seeks an individual that thinks outside the box and provides suggestions in improving internal controls and cost saving strategies
