What can we expect if congress/opposition comes to power.
I have taken only observed events as examples as they do not need a proof: The given events have been experienced by people living here in India.
I thought it was my duty as an observant citizen to write this article, as this election 2019 is not like any other and would decide the future of this great Nation of ours in more significant ways than any other election to-date.
1.0: Mission
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
To get power and become PM.
To preserve dynastic rule.
To divide and rule and preserve proven-to-date vote bank politics.
Forget people once elected.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Govt. is meant to serve people: PM is Pradhan Sevak.
Focus on people of India, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Take feedback periodically from relevant people and act on them.
2.0 Weakening institutions that are pillars of Democracy.
2.1 Courts including Supreme court- Knocking out courts by declaring emergency .
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Declaration of Emergency-Not because of external aggression or danger to security of the Nation but because of insecurity to the PM’s chair. Declared on 25-06-1975 and Indira Gandhi was to be overthrown by Allahabad High court on 26-06-1975.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Has not done this -not till now.
2.2 Overlooking several senior judges appointing chief justice of India out of turn.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Mrs. Indira Gandhi’s call for committed Judiciary .
Made a mockery of the independence of judiciary.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Never did this even with a judge who gave an unfavourable decision to Govt.
2.3: Move to impeach the chief justice
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Move to impeach the chief justice Of India only because he did not agree to Congress’s views on an issue.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Stood solidly against such a move.
2.4: Other Institutions.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
CBI and EC openly threatened with what would happen if they come to power. Armed forces suspected.
T N Seshan punished because under him EC asserted itself
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Institutions given freedom to think and act with full empowerment.
3.0 Parliaments.
3.1: Attitude.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Nice place for photo op and where you can stall the progress of the Nation by blocking any attempt towards progress.
Particularly take up non-issues to to the people and make them issues to stall Parliament resulting in enormous and avoidable waste of the scarce public money.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
A temple and before entering first do namaskar.
Talk to the point purposefully and forcefully, respect time spent.
3.2: Criticism
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Focus on individuals: Personally attack and insult them to counter any point.
PM must always attend Parliament even if a frivolous issue is being discussed, particularly if specific individuals from opposition are making a point or talking total ‘earth -quake creating’ non-sense.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
No personal attacks except to reply such attacks and at election meetings.
Improve utilization of these costly institutions PM need not attend Parliament always since the minister concerned is capable and empowered.
4.0: The Opposition party.
4.1: Role of opposition:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Follow Oppose for opposing sake as a policy even if the Govt. says or does something in the interest of the Nation and its people. The Govt should obey implicitly what the opposition says.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Make your point on the issue being discussed, expect the Govt. to listen, let the ruling party rule and not the opposition.
4.2: What to do with a performing ruling party:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Dub all the ruling party’s achievement for the country and its people as false claims in spite of visible and ample proof. Believe external enemies of the Nation and do not trust the elected Govt. - elected by the people, thus humiliating and fooling them. Deny everything that the Govt. claims as its achievement as lies and propagate them as false and empty claims. Prevent even the central assistance for the poor by not complying with the reqd procedure in states where congress/UPA is in power.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Question Govt’s claim but with decorum. Let the Govt. run. Do not obstruct its functioning and prevent the poor from getting the benefits in states where. NDA is in power.
4.3: What to do when the ‘direct and command’ to toe the very unreasonable stand taken on certain key issues by the higher ups in the party.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Become totally autocratic within own party and even if people in the party are leaving after serving the party for decades, belittle them.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Hardly ever sack anyone for disagreeing with the top. Do not obstruct some individuals if they want to leave.
4.4: Preach love and actually hate a few individuals from the bottom of your heart.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
The ruling party, nay a few individuals in it have to be hated in reality, even though you have to pose as though you love them as a matter of policy.
Call even the PM Chaiwala, choukidar, terrorist, Hi**er, dictator, etc.
Simply level charges without giving any basis, propagate it even by tipping the media, make the people believe what you are saying, and if some don’t, threaten them telling them how you would take care of them when you come back to power.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
No going below a decent level when criticizing individuals, except in self – defence.
Use the negative street level jibes as tools in election propaganda.
4.5: Embrace external and internal enemies of the Nation if it suits your vote-bank politics.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Never mind trusting and siding with even Pak and China to belittle people in the ruling Party.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Nation and its people first policy, then only even the party, leave alone individuals, however high they may be in the party hierarchy.
4.6: Fool people by repeating charges and accusations though you can’t quote a single specific instance for substantiating them.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Never mind fooling people even telling blatant lies albeit it is proven so by courts including supreme court, keep repeating them just to get votes by fooling people, whom you are genuinely supposed to serve. This is similar to taking customers for a ride in any business just to make a quick buck.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Listen to people continuously even during the 5 year term though you enjoy majority.Have guts to amend your own decisions based on feedback from people, govern by being a people-responsive govt.
4.7: Social fablric: seculiarism and plurality of India.
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
We have to put the majority community below to be proved we are secular and are plural.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Religion, caste, creed language could be different but we are one India, truly secular and plural and have lived in peace for generations and can live so in future too.
4.8: Corruption:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
When action is taken against huge corruption affecting any of the opposition members, who have been doing it with ease earlier, shout it is political vindictiveness and try and get out of the problem.
If action is not taken make a hue and cry.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Corrupt has to be punished irrespective of party and political affiliations.
5.0: The free press- the Fourth estate Attitude:
5.1: Perception:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
This is one more institution to be Stage-managed, particularly during election times. Of course we have Funds, so no problem. This is nice place for photo ops.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Press is to be left alone unless warranted. No management at all. The Govt. not to incentivising it or running to it frequently.
5.2: Maintaining contact:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
No need to go to people and talk to them except during election times. Instead stage manage the press. After all they are in business and want to make money too. Promise once a month interview: but how can a PM have time to talk ordinary people? So just do not do it.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
It is critical to keep talking to people regularly- be it implementing massive changes like GST or share your thoughts with them. It is not enough listening to them but act on their grievances and problems.Anything can be missed by PM but not talking to people of the Nation once a month.
5.3: Press being biased:
Observed Event Congress/ Opposition
Punish them by stopping Revenues.
Observed Event BJP/NDA
Yes, it is a tragedy but Press Is doing its job and they will themselves face the consequences of what they are doing from the the system they too are serving: the people.

Changes that have happened in the last 5 years that did not happen in the last 60 years.
Changes within India:
Emergence of A thoroughly negative opposition that uses lies, irrelevant and technically wrong points and even indecent language in debates in an attempt to mislead and instigate people:
Going back to what Robert Ringer was writing:
Dirty Trick #9: Demanding Proof for a Self-evident Fact
“There’s a whole school of thought that revolves around the idea that everything is relative and therefore nothing can be proven. The philosophy of relativism teaches that the premises people use to make judgments vary according to their genetic makeup, backgrounds, and environments. ….. if you allow someone to base his argument on the contention that a self-evident truth cannot be proven, an invalid conclusion is also a forgone conclusion.”
Examples: flash strikes: Our opposition asking: Did it ever take place? The same question was asked by Pak. and answered by them that the strike never took place!
The IAG strike on Palakot: very similar except that Pak itself admitted there was but our opposition was still suspicious about the whole strike.
The electricity connections, gas connections, bank account opening and direct transfer of Govt. benefits to several millions of homes that can be easily verified are questioned and dubbed as false claims by the Govt. and propagated heavily.
Even issues settled by the Supreme court of India CAG and even the armed forces, are kept alive by this phenomenon of demanding proof – the latest one is the Rafale deal. If all these institutions are dancing to the tune of one individual or the Govt. I would prefer such individual and the Govt. to rule in democratic India.
Also everything in the world cannot be proven: That is why the saying: Motherhood is a fact, fatherhood is only a belief.
We have to believe an individual in the opposition who says he met French president who told him the Govt. of India asked them to choose Anil Ambani of Reliance but not anyone else in the group of govts. including France which in fact has refuted the claim totally, companies involved in the deal!!! Why don’t we ask for proof that Raga met the French president in the first place and asked for the proof of this message that the president gave him!!
Rahul Gandhi says: Modi is a lyer. Mayawati and Mamata do not keep their promises without any proof whatsoever, Kejriwal should not even be worth talking to and expect the people of the country to believe him. He is safe here because he does not give any promises to people in the first place because he does not have a vision, a mission or anything worth the name for India and its people and hopes to win the election in the hope that people will still go by ‘I am o.k. everybody else is not o.k.’ of the Gandhi family and continue to vote for its party. The dynastic arrogance has crossed all limits and has to be put down only by the people of the Nation.
Robert Ringer continues:
Using Esoteric Words
“I’m an advocate of Occam’s Razor Principle (also known as the Principle of Parsimony), which states that the simplest and most direct explanation is generally the best explanation. Making explanations more complicated than necessary is often nothing more than a smokescreen intended to hide the facts.”
Shashi Tharoor is a classic example of this phenomenon. The common man needs a dictionary by his side to understand what he writes. The more complicated the words he thinks the better. The explanations given by experts, not necessarily in their field of their expertise, passes off as facts – say a noble laureate in any field, giving his opinion on a political issue, or say anyone without economics background, giving comments on economic issues that a common man never understands but accepts only because it comes from a self-styled or so-called icon. And of course you can get any of these experts for a price today to say what ever you want them to say.
Many articles appearing in the Press and as blogs in TV channels’ website belong to this category.
I’ll like to add a few more to Robert Ringer’s list as a keen observer of the Indian scene:
Trick #11: Arrogating to oneself the saviour role and how, without him, the country will go to dogs! See what the congress intelligentsia and spokespersons, and the entire opposition say:
“The constitution of India has to be saved!
We cannot permit the democracy of this country to be jeopardized!
This is one man’s rule!
PMO ‘controls’ every ministry and every minister!
The country is in great peril and we should join hands to oust this Govt. to save the Nation!”
If Modi comes to power again, we won’t have elections at all in this country and he will be the permanent PM of India!
Modi is Hi**er.
Modi is a terrorist. People are scared of him.
True some people are really scared of him and that is why they have come together with the silly goal of removing one man from being PM. Modi is not Xi to make himself the permanent PM of the country for ever. He has immense respect for the democratic values and is self-disciplined enough to never perpetuate anything that jeopardizes the democratic fibre of India – like the congress PM who imposed emergency to save her throne/chair.
When we have survived emergency and restored democracy in all its glory, we should not get intimidated by such doomsday soothsayers. In any case India is not so feeble that it needs these individuals with feeble capabilities who have no track record of any achievement at all to make India better.
To clear ourselves and our minds, we should ask such soothsayers to come out with specific examples for every one of the above statements that they have made. They cannot give any one specific example of any one of the accusations they are making: I feel the only problem that answers why they are making all these accusations without any basis or proof and based only on their creative imagination i.e., lies is that they are facing a severe cash crunch and an uncertain future for themselves and their parties. All the criticism they make is only to oust the govt. that created this massive problem for them in such a short time.

Changes that have happened in the last 5 years that did not happen in the last 60 years.
Changes within India:
_
Emergence of A thoroughly negative opposition that uses lies, irrelevant points and even indecent language in debates in an attempt to mislead and instigate people:
Arun Jaitley in a recent blog says:
“It is a recognition of the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government that Opposition, after five years, has no real issue against the Government. The Government is contesting on a pro-incumbency performance platform. It is a Government with a leader with whom the comfort level of the voter is high. The Opposition is in a state of panic. It’s single point programme is a negative one - ‘remove one man’. The level of ambition is limited. In the absence of any real issue against the Government, Rahul Gandhi has led not only his party but the entire Opposition to rely on fake and manufactured issues. They raise fake issues, create an echo effect and then believe their falsehood to be true.”
Whether what Arun Jaitley opines is right or wrong, one thing is clear: The Opposition is unable to find an issue that would attract, leave alone grip, the attention of the common man. This is frustrating for the opposition, frustrating to no end. In such a situation they could have taken one of the following two approaches:
1. Be a constructive opposition: Appreciate the Govt. where it does good for the people and the Nation and if possible, suggest a better solution than what the Govt. is implementing for peoples’ and country’s good. Criticize if it does something that hurts people or the country in the short or long term, tangibly or intangibly and do not stop with just criticizing but give a better alternative, a clear road-map to the better alternative. Publish your stand so people know what you are thinking, saying and doing.
Or
2. Be a negative opposition: Oppose for opposing sake. Criticize what the Govt. does even if it is good for the people at large and for the Nation. In this process, befriend all your enemies as well if they all agree to oppose for opposing sake. Such an approach would necessarily make the opposition a personality- oriented one and not an issue- oriented opposition. Such an opposition attacks personalities and their focus shifts from issues of importance to the common man and the Nation to personal attacks on a few people – even though these people have done good to people and the country at large and so are liked by people. This makes the opposition blind to ground realities. Even if they see or hear ground realities, they turn a blind eye to them and see, even in the obvious things, only what they want to see i.e. venues for attacking the few chosen personalities.
In this option there will only be criticism of the few chosen people and not anything that helps the people or the Nation. Even if it is directed at issues, the negative opposition never gives a road map or an alternative suggestion as to how the issue should be solved better or how the Govt. could have done better: the negative opposition thinks ‘simply say what is done is ridiculous!’ Even our docile press does not ask a simple question to such a person: ‘Sir, what according to you should have been done?’. Worse still, normally such people whose end result is a few people, cannot come out with anything better, leave alone a road map that is superior to achieve the same objective or even how the very objective could have been even better. In fact, they cannot come out with a better goal or vision and also cannot have a road map even for the objective the ruling party has chosen as they are blinded by these few people to be fixed. So, the only thing they are forced to do is to twist the facts to suit the criticism on the few people the opposition has chosen to criticise. This means creating and propagating a bundle of lies and propagating it to people so intensely and repeatedly with the hope that at least some may start taking these lies as truth and believing them. Let the propaganda be done thru paid media and owners of such media, it does not matter. Also employ spokespersons whose job it is to defend the party whether what the party says is good or bad for the people or the Nation. But even these spokespersons know what they are talking is not true, not from their heart and so there is disconnect within themselves and they lack the moral courage to speak authentically whatever they are forced to. Lack of authenticity is seen in their body language. Even getting a logical coherence to prove the point they are making becomes a problem for most of them.
But we live in times when even lies have to sound reasonable for which we have to give factual data to back up the lie. Here comes the problem: An accusation without any facts to back it up is a mere lie and not to be taken seriously at all. Even a common man in India knows this today and so this is not going to work at all. After all we are not 1938/39 Germany to repeat what Hi**er did and hope what worked for Hi**er in 38/39would work today as well in India, a relatively mature democracy as it stands today. Sure, it works for a very short time and it creates something like an earthquake effect even now, but it vanishes over long term doing enormous damage to those who started the false propaganda.
Unfortunately, our opposition chose the second option: Obviously this is not working and that is why the utter frustration which the opposition hopes to counter with more such accusations without back up and therefore more they fail. Many times, they run out of creative thinking, cannot create new lies and are forced to come out with the same old issues that have been proven by even courts as false accusations without any basis. The bundle of lies unleashed by the opposition has reached such horrendous proportions that whatever they tell is taken as a lie first by the common citizen! So even the short- term quake effect has been eroded over a period of time. This is exactly what is happening to the opposition in India currently. You can see this happening in every political debate in the country.
This is unfortunate because a democracy needs a strong, positive opposition for it to function effectively and In India today there is no opposition worth the name.
Robert Ringer, the American icon, summarizes what he calls the ‘Ten Dirty Tricks of Debating, the most commonly used tools of the incurable debater’ in one of his famous blogs. I am listing below some of them where our great democratic opposition in India fits in like a bullet:
“Dirty Trick No. 1: The False Premise
Basing one’s argument on a false premise is one of the oldest tricks of clever debaters. It’s a mainstay of most political debates, wherein politicians find they can slide a false premise by sitcom-damaged brains without much effort. Worse, supposedly opposing parties begin most of their debates with joint false premises, thus giving viewers all the more reason to assume that such premises are correct.”
I was trying to list some of those events that happened in our country using false premise as the basis for allegation: these have been proved utterly false subsequently, though at the time they were happening many thought or brainwashed to think – even by the media- these were true:
‘-PM faked his education certificate- a two year old story proved false but has resurfaced now- just prior to elections.
- Loya conspiracy.
- Semen balloons.
- Church attacks.
Junaid beef angle.
Kathua "apologists".
Reservations ended!
SC/ST Atrocities Act ended!
No tax benefits of demonetization.
Bank deposit panic.
NDA created NPAs.
Surgical strikes are fake.
In Balakot, Pak our ‘valiant’ air force hit trees and not terrorists.’
Even the ones that are not totally false are not totally true either, like GST, demonetization etc. Some positives and negatives are present in these but only the negatives are chosen, talked about and harped on, telling a whole lot of lies in the process of proving the negatives right.

Changes that have happened in the last 5 years that did not happen in the last 60 years.
Changes within India:
We now feel we have a Govt. that acts:
Indians could perceive the presence of a govt. in the last 5 years as against a feeling of whether there is a Govt. at all before. In those days people used to ask ‘who is running India’ and the answer was: ‘Of course God. If you need any proof of existence of God, here it is: the fact that India is kicking and alive is proof of existence of God’.
India saw a performing Govt. – performing in spite of a completely negative opposition that tried to put many blocks to achievement- that considered all its members as servants to people, as a pleasant change, rather than considering and treating people as servants of the people in positions of authority. We pleasantly found people being placed above party even. We saw the ruling party taking feedback from people and acting on them as opposed to going to people only once in 5 years. In other words, we found that a Govt. can be people-responsive continuously even between elections, not just once in 5 years. So the people could feel the impact of the change in their daily normal living, changes which they could not see in the last 60 years. Instead of daily life being a challenge even for routine activities, we can go thru these daily routines more easily and in a better way, saving a lot of time and money.
We now feel we can question the logic behind any policy or decision:
Even common people questioning the logic behind the stand taken by the so-called great personalities is a very welcome sign for democratic values. Powers ceased to become brakes on freedom of speech. A political party permitting dissent from within is an acceptable phenomenon today side by side with those that still follow the old tradition of not permitting any dissent – particularly with the chiefs of the parties even within own party. People feel now they can question even so-called elites who oppose for opposing sake and even disrespect such elites. This was unthinkable even a decade ago.
Even the elitists and the celebrities have to follow basic discipline such as loyalty to nation now, those with questionable loyalties in India continue but the process of doing anti-india talks or actions have been attached with a cost. Earlier such people were respected and given VIP status.
The opposite also has started happening: Common man has started to getting recognized for his/her achievement, be it in service to society or in sports or any other field. Previously largely you have to have a god father to get government favours and any awards or you should have been recognized by some other world body first to get recognition from our Govt. or any other agency in India.
We now see the so-called elitist leaders are getting exposed and we now feel to what low levels these self-styled leaders can go, in what they think, say and do.
Look at the level to which political dialogue has gone down: we will be ashamed to use such words in private leave alone in public. Our dark side gets revealed not when we are happy but when we are facing not just adverse but hopeless situations. Any decent individual will not let go his frustration in public by using such language. We have put and kept such indecent individuals in positions of importance and authority in the country for over 60 years. This is a great learning for the people of India. I am sure the people of India will be far more selective in deciding whom to send to assemblies and Lok Sabha not any more based on only the fame or the elitism of the individual. Our democracy gets strengthened further this way and this is a very good development.
We also get a doubt: are these people who are afraid of their survival in public life if the current party comes back to power? Why should they forego the trust that the people had put in them for so many years and now go to the extent of misleading them? Do they think they are more powerful than the people who gave them that power in the first place? Specifically is it because such people have been thriving on a fabulous life of pleasure and luxury acquired through questionable means such as corruption which may be lost in future, thus closing their tap that was feeding them ? In old days there was a saying: ‘If you cannot do anything in life, join politics’. Are these the remnants of such phenomenon? We now realize that the politicians should serve people simply and honestly to get and keep their trust in them. They cannot get the trust of people of India by laying their loyalty elsewhere, even to their own party. They have now tasted true service of politicians and what difference it can make in their daily life and for their future generations. They wont sacrifice it for any thing else, leave alone the garbage that comes out of the politicians today.
