It is this contribution that is the foundation of success. In new ventures that are low on cash, owners and employees typically take salaries that are below market value in return for a stake—referred to as sweat equity—in the company.

Todays Term -Freemium Business Model

Freemium = free + premium .

It is a business model that offers basic features (and/or upto a threshold of transactions or activities) of a product or service at no cost and charges a premium for advanced features.
e.g ZOHO Books allows the software for free upto Rs.25 lakhs of turnover.

The model is popular among software applications and internet-based businesses. For instance, GMAIL , which offers cloud-based storage uses a freemium model by giving upto 15GB of storage free. For more space, the users have to upgrade to paid version.

We can also find in some Coaching Institutes the same , who offers many hours of learning free and in case one wants more he can pay and get more.

What does one mean by the term "market sentiment" ?

It refers to investors’ outlook or attitude towards the share markets. Investors’ optimism or pessimism is reflected through the price trend in the Share Market. These sentiments drive markets in general and stock prices in particular. For instance, rising stock prices along with rising volumes, indicate bullish market sentiment and falling stock prices along with rising volumes, indicate bearish market sentiments. Studying the market sentiment is critical in trading and definitely an important checklist item before investing.

What is GMV?

Gross merchandise value (GMV) means the volume of goods sold over a given period of time by an e-commerce company. The e-commerce companies use it to understand how it is operating and growing. GMV doesn’t take into account accrued costs and expenses that come with an online business like shipping costs, discounts, return etc. Hence, It is pertinent to use other metrics alongside GMV to understand the overall health of the company.
