The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) has proposed major reforms to simplify and accelerate low-value claim settlements under the Companies Act, 2013.

These changes aim to reduce documentation, improve accountability, and strengthen investor protection.

WHAT IS CHANGING?
1. 30-Day Fast Track Disposal

Low-value claims to be resolved within 30 days based on company verification.

Applicable for:

Physical Shares: Up to ₹5,00,000

Demat Shares: Up to ₹15,00,000

Dividends: Up to ₹10,000

2. Reduced Documentation Burden

No indemnity bond for low-value claims

Self-declaration allowed for minor name mismatches

Simplified compliance framework

3. Company-Driven Verification Model

IEPFA will rely on the Electronic Verification Report (EVR) submitted by companies.
Enhanced accountability on company nodal officers.

4. Appeal Mechanism Introduced

If a claim is rejected:
✔ Appeal to Grievance Officer (GM level)
✔ Further appeal to CEO, IEPFA
✔ Transparent, structured resolution process

5. Corporate Action Clarity

Clear framework for:

Bonus shares

Stock splits

Delisting cases

Direct credit of eligible benefits
