such boarding called ‘Chauthe Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Boarding’ was started at Ahmednagar in 1918. The
objective of the boarding was to impart education to the socially deprived, downtrodden, and especially rural
masses. The founders of the boarding were highly inspired by the philosophy of Mahatma Phule’s
Satyashodhak Samaj. They knew well that only mass education would help in the upliftment of the
downtrodden masses in rural areas. The boarding, established in the memory of Chauthe Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was initially run at
Nalegaon, Ahmednagar. The students from several villages in the district used to stay in the boarding and
attended various schools in the city. A group of enlightened social workers came forward and took lead in
taking over the possession of the place where Chauthe Chhatrapati Maharaj was cremated. These people
purchased a piece of land, approximately 12 acres, exactly in front of Maharaja's cremation place and started
boarding there. Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, the chief patron of the boarding, generously donated Rs. 1000 for the
boarding and Rs. 200 per annum for the maintenance of the memorial of Chauthe Shivaji Maharaj. The students from every corner of the district used to take education in
various schools in the city and stay in boarding. There were a number of helping hands in the smooth – running
of the boarding. The founders then realized a need for having their own institution and high school. Finally,
Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj was established in 1941. At present, the parent institute runs
eight senior colleges, our Shri Dhokeshwar College was established in 1994. Vision
Parent Institution’s Vision:
The main focus of the parent institution has been to provide education to the economically backward
community and the famine-stricken and hilly regions. It has established a network of 89 educational units. This
includes 12 Higher & Technical colleges, 25 Higher Secondary Schools, 48 Secondary Schools, and 4 Primary
& Ashram Schools throughout the Ahmednagar district that impart education in various fields like Arts,
Commerce, Science, Education, Law, Engineering, Management, Computer Science & Hotel Management. The very modest objective of the founders behind establishing this college in Draught-Prone Areas like Takali
Dhokeshwar village & its vicinity was to promote higher education among the deprived classes & especially
the girl students lacking opportunities in this region. Milestones of Development: It received permanent affiliation in 2004 from the University of Pune now called
Savitribai Phule Pune University. After completing seven years of its existence & by giving out excellent
results in the University Examination, the Govt. of Maharashtra was pleased to extend a 100% grant since

Academic Year 2000-2001. The college received recognition under 2 F &12 B by the University Grant
Commission in 2006. The college has expanded in stages as per the rules of UGC, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and directives of
the parent institution. Considering the educational interest of rural students, subjects like Marathi, Hindi,
English, History, Geography, and finally Political Science in arts faculty. After the 1st Cycle of NAAC
Accreditation (2003), Peer Team Report specified a need for multi-faculty higher education. Accordingly, in
2008-09 institute introduced science faculty with subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Botany, and Electronics
under Science & Technology. In the year 2014-15, the subject of Cost Accounting was started under Commerce
and Management faculty. After completing its journey to a multi-faculty college passed through the 2nd Cycle
of the NAAC assessment in 2016. Now we have prepared this self-study report for the third cycle accreditation
process. The vision of this college:
“It is to transform the college into a full-fledged learning center by providing a quality higher education with
equal opportunity to rural, unprivileged, hilly, draught prone, remote region students and especially the
girls.”

Parent Institution’s Mission:
Ahmednagar Jilha Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Ahmednagar our parent institute began its journey with the
objectives of “to start, manage, control and affiliated educational institutions for imparting useful and
practical instructions, viz-literacy, scientific and technical, suited to the needs and conditions of the people. The chief aim is to provide the youths of India a course of instruction comprehensive in its scope and
complete in its several branches, to inspire their minds and build up their character under strict discipline in
harmony with the best natural traditions of the past so as to fulfill the highest national aspirations of the
country and to enable them to be self-reliant and undertake their duties and responsibilities of good
citizenship”
Accordingly, our college runs Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Commerce programs and
37 faculty and 852 students on the roll. The college has premises of 4 acres which includes the main building,
parking shade, canteen, botanical garden, playground, and ladies' hostel. The library is well equipped with the
latest SOUL software 3.0 version. All campus is wi-fi enabled and under CCTV coverage. Laboratories are
upgraded and Computer Lab is in use by students and faculty members. Over the last five years with the perspective plan college has developed ICT infrastructure and a green campus. IQAC has contributed to enhancing teachers' and students' academic performance by organizing various
academic and extension activities. The college adapted to the new pattern of Choice Based Credit System from
2019-2020 and the online mode of teaching-learning during the covid pandemic. Units and committees of the
college played their role significantly in accelerating its mission. The mission of this college: “To make an overall development of students through the disciplined teachinglearning process.”
