In support of the HKSAR Government’s strategic focus on the Central Asian market, the Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) proudly hosted our inaugural Kazakhstan Forum on 22 April at the HKMA. The event received an overwhelming response, bringing together over 190 industry leaders and professionals to explore the boundless opportunities in this high-potential region.

We were honored to have Sun Yu, Chairperson of HKAB, deliver the warm welcome speech. The forum's strategic importance was further amplified by opening remarks from Arthur Yuen, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), and Alpha Lau, Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, setting a strong tone for cross-border collaboration.

The agenda included a compelling featured speech by Zhanbolat Kakishev, Chief Product Officer of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), followed by a comprehensive macroeconomic update on the region by Amy Huang, Senior Economist at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

A core highlight of the event was our two dynamic panel discussions featuring a mix of local and overseas experts:

🔹 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝟏: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲, 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚. Moderated by Franck Liu (Chairperson of Corridor Business Committee, HKAB), this session featured insights from Diana Aryssova (Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, KazMunayGas), Gulnaz Ibragimova (Deputy Chairman of the Board & Chief Compliance Officer, Bank of China Kazakhstan), and Alice Tsang (Principal Economist, HKTDC).

🔹 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝟐: 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧. Led by Raymond Ng (Head of CSD Development and Operations, CMU OmniClear), this panel provided deep insights into cross-border synergies alongside Yedil Medeu (Chairman of the Management Board, Central Securities Depository JSC), Teze Wang (Marketing Director, CCX Green Finance), and Chengdong Zhang (Head of Trading, BOCHK).

The forum concluded on a high note with impactful closing remarks from Nicholas Ho, Commissioner for Belt and Road at the HKSAR Government, who reinforced Hong Kong's unique position as a value-adding super-connector for Central Asia.

The Hong Kong Association of Banks HKAB Kazakhstan Forum on 22 April - Bridging HK & Kazakhstan: Forging New Frontiers in Central Asia

北部都會區涵蓋廣泛新發展用地及產業項目，是香港長遠發展的重要引擎。昨日，香港銀行公會(銀行公會)主席、中國銀行（香港）副董事長兼總裁孫煜，聯同香港金融管理局（金管局）副總裁阮國恒，帶領15間銀行代表實地考察洪水橋及河套地區發展。

發展局局長甯漢豪及發展局副秘書長翁佩雲介紹北部都會區最新發展藍圖及進展，創新科技及工業局副局長張曼莉亦向代表團介紹河套深港科技創新合作區香港園區。

為加強銀行業與特區政府及其他持份者溝通和協作，並商討如何在融資方面積極配合北都發展，金管局與銀行公會宣布共同成立「北部都會區金融諮詢工作小組」（工作小組）。工作小組將：
• 就北都融資及銀行服務需求提供專業意見
• 發掘北都機遇，提出務實融資方案加速項目落地
• 促進業界知識交流，強化對重點北都項目的銀行支援

今次研討會旨在讓銀行業界深入了解CorpID嘅最新發展同發展潛力，以及簡介「數碼企業身份」嘅沙盒計劃 (CorpID Sandbox Programme)。在研討會上，業界代表積極交流，氣氛熱烈✨ 我哋亦鼓勵銀行業界積極參與以及支持CorpID沙盒計劃，進行概念驗證測試同開發應用方案，設計更貼近市場需要嘅應用場景同解決方案。

Last weekend (Jan 17-18), The Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) continued its active support for the "Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Month" campaign. Our member banks joined the community outreach AML event at YOHO Mall I, organized by the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FIIB).

It was a productive weekend of engagement! 🤝 Through interactive games and information panels, our representatives managed the game booths and engaged directly with the public to raise awareness about financial crime risks. We were delighted to see active community participation, with citizens eager to learn about safeguarding their bank accounts.

Through these interactions, we reinforced the critical message: 🚫 Don’t Rent, Lend, or Sell Your Bank Account 🚫

🌟 Kicking off AML Month with Community Engagement 反洗黑錢月🗓️ • ❌唔租❌唔借❌唔賣

Last weekend (Jan 10-11), The Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) was proud to support the Anti-Deception & Anti-Money Laundering Community Outreach Event held at K11 Art Mall, organized by the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau (FIIB) and the Yau Tsim Police District.

The launch ceremony officially kicked off "Anti-Money Laundering Month" in January 2026 🗓️ and was graced by Chris Tang, Secretary for Security, and Joe Chow, Commissioner of Police. Both delivered inspiring speeches highlighting the Police's relentless efforts in combating fraud and money laundering.
In recognition of the banking industry's collective efforts, HKAB was honored to receive a Certificate of Appreciation from FIIB. Our Acting Chairperson, also Deputy Chief Executive of Bank of China (Hong Kong), Stephen Chan, accepted the award on our behalf, symbolizing our shared commitment to financial security. He also joined other distinguished guests to present the “Yau Tsim District Outstanding Anti-Deception Leader Certificates.”

During the two-day event, the HKAB team was actively involved managing game booths on-site. Through interactive games and direct engagement with citizens, we reminded the public about the serious risks of money laundering and spread the crucial message:

剛過去的週末（1月10至11日），香港銀行公會很高興能參與由財富情報及調查科（FIIB）聯同油尖警區在 K11 Art Mall 舉辦的「防騙唔洗坊 • 全民反詐反洗黑錢啟動禮」, 為2026年1月「反洗黑錢月」正式揭開序幕。🗓️

在啟動儀式上，保安局局長鄧炳強先生及警務處處長周一鳴先生均親臨致辭，強調警方在打擊詐騙及反洗黑錢方面的堅定決心與成果。為表彰銀行業界在防騙及反洗黑錢工作上的共同努力，大會特別向銀行公會頒發嘉許獎狀。銀行公會署理主席、中國銀行（香港）副總裁陳文先生代表公會接受嘉許，並與一眾嘉賓共同主禮，頒發油尖區最傑出防騙領袖生證書，見證活動啟動。

在為期兩天的活動中，我們的團隊亦全情投入，在現場協助營運遊戲攤位。透過輕鬆的互動遊戲和與市民的直接交流，我們向大眾講解洗黑錢的風險，並時刻提醒大家務必保護好自己的銀行戶口：
