There is something fundamentally wrong with Ghana football. We are under performing at all levels of football competition or tournaments. Ghana is far behind football development, both at club and national level,however both authorities and players are still relying on our past glories. Hence, you hear comments like “ we are Ghana “ yet we are losing to teams/ countries like Niger and Madagascar. These countries don’t just beat our teams, but they outplay, outshine and outclass both players and the technical teams in almost every department of the game. We are becoming a laughingstock in football. The once fearful and powerhouse in African Football has become a walkover for less fancy country in African Football. This is shameful. We have lost our grounds as a country in various fields of competition and reduce ourselves into an ordinary or passengers in whatever we compete in. Until we accept the uncomfortable truth that we are longer what we think we are and revolutionize our mentality, stop the empty pride, and stop making heroes of out of idiots. We will continue to waste the tax payers money tournament after tournament and will return home with nothing but embarrassment. We sat here priding ourselves four times African champions without thinking and noticing that football has revolved and minors in African Football have noticed it and are investing into the development of the game. Today we can no longer beat our chest as “four times African Champions “ because that record has been rendered valueless. One of our major problems is the empty pride in both our players and authorities. At tournament they behave as if they have already won the tournament and their focus is on the gallery. While other countries are so well focused on the tournament like soldiers in a battle field,ours are like tourists taking pictures of themselves and visiting historic sites. This pride leads to absolute disrespect to our opponents. However,our opponents have a lot respect for our teams/country therefore take every game/match against us,whether friendly or competitive like a Cup final. We have lost it all. It will take years or decades to bounce back as a powerhouse in African Football. Formerly, the problem use to be either the no money syndrome or poor preparation yet we won some few cups sold some good and quality football. Fortunately, today there’s so much money and our preparations are super rich and well organized,yet the result is abysmal and our quality of play is absolutely rubbish. Something is wrong somewhere.
