A positive day supporting one of our young people as he prepares to move into his own accommodation 🏡

After feeling a little overwhelmed about the move, some time away from the house was just what was needed. We headed to Lightwater Country Park for a walk through the woods to Curley Hill viewpoint, with plenty of fresh air, sunshine and time to talk along the way.

Of course, there was a moment of excitement on the zipline too! One of our Senior Support Workers looked away for a second, turned back around and somehow our young person was on the floor. Thankfully he was absolutely fine, in great spirits and laughing 😂

More boxing sessions have been taking place with young people at our Birch Hill secondary site 🥊

Boxing continues to be a brilliant outlet for young people, giving them a positive and structured way to channel their energy while building fitness, focus and discipline along the way. Session by session, it's fantastic to see their confidence grow, both in the ring and in themselves.

Beyond the physical benefits, boxing also teaches resilience, self control and the value of hard work, skills that carry far beyond the ring and into everyday life. It's a real privilege to watch young people push themselves, support one another and take genuine pride in their progress 💙

We’re really proud to share some lovely feedback following a recent monitoring visit from Bracknell Forest Council! 🏡💙

Our Supported Accommodation (16+) was recognised as a welcoming, well-maintained and supportive environment where young people are encouraged to build their independence and work towards positive outcomes.

The visit highlighted the commitment of our team, the personalised support young people receive and the different opportunities they have to share their views and help shape life within the home.

It was also great to see our new system for recording young people’s progress recognised for being clear, accessible and easy to navigate.

Of course, some of our favourite feedback came from the Young Expert, who rated the service highly across all areas and shared what they liked most:

“I liked the staffing, the rooms, decorations and the guinea pigs.” 🐹

We’re glad the guinea pigs got a mention! 😄

A huge well done to our Storyy Homes team for everything they do to make our Supported
Accommodation somewhere young people can feel comfortable, supported and confident about what comes next.

Things have been productive at our Finchamstead site, with young people settling into new routines and timetables brilliantly, supported by their mentors every step of the way 💙

After six weeks off, our PSHE topic focused on wellbeing and mental health, giving everyone a chance to check in and get support where needed, whether working in small groups or sharing their own written work with a mentor.

One of our young people has continued learning guitar since last year, building confidence, coordination and a great tool for regulation, all while bonding with their mentor over music 🎸

At Storyybrook, our topic focus was Space, and it brought out some brilliant creativity and teamwork across our sessions 🚀

Young people got hands on with space bread, taking turns mixing and kneading the dough before shaping their own miniature moons once it had risen. They also took part in a space scavenger hunt, unscrambling space themed words and showing some really impressive problem solving skills along the way.

Creativity continued with space key rings, where young people designed their own planets and drew them onto shrink paper to make a wearable keepsake. Shaving foam planet painting brought a sensory element into the mix, with young people mixing colours together to create swirling, planet like patterns.

To top things off, everyone worked together on a solar system painting, each contributing a different planet to build one big group piece. A brilliant reminder that great things happen when creativity and teamwork come together.

Over at our Birch Hill secondary site, young people have been getting stuck into boxing and table tennis 🥊

Boxing sessions have given young people a brilliant outlet for energy and focus, teaching discipline, resilience and self control while building fitness and confidence along the way. There's something powerful about learning to channel emotion into something structured and positive, and it's been great to see young people growing in confidence session by session.

Table tennis has brought a different kind of energy, encouraging quick thinking, coordination and a bit of friendly competition. It's also been a great way for young people to build social skills, take turns and enjoy some healthy rivalry with their peers.

Whether it's in the ring or across the table, activities like these help young people build confidence, resilience and connection, all while having fun and staying active 💙

There’s a lot that goes into creating the right home and support for a young person!

At Storyy Homes, that starts with understanding the individual, creating an environment where they can feel comfortable and making sure the right people are around them. From there, it’s about helping them build confidence, develop everyday skills and prepare for what comes next.

💙 Homes with heart: Welcoming, positive environments that young people can feel comfortable in and make their own.
👤 Support built around the individual: We take time to understand each young person’s needs, with individual support plans that reflect what works for them.
🙌 A team they can rely on: Our staff receive comprehensive training alongside regular supervision, helping them provide consistent, thoughtful support.
🌱 Building skills for the future: From emotional wellbeing and relationships to cooking, finances, health and online safety, we help young people develop practical skills and confidence for adult life.

For older young people, our Supported Accommodation (16+) also provides a pathway towards greater independence when they’re ready for that next step.

What makes somewhere feel like home? 🏡

It might be knowing what’s for dinner, having your favourite things in your bedroom, laughing with the people around you or having somewhere to relax after a long day.

These everyday things are an important part of life in our Children’s Homes.

We support children aged 8–16, creating homes where they can enjoy everyday experiences, develop new skills, spend time doing the things they love and have consistent adults around them when they need support.

No two children are the same, and neither is what makes a place feel like home.

The kitchen was a busy place at our Milton Keynes site last week! Both our primary and secondary young people got stuck into cooking, picking up new skills and having fun along the way.

Our huge interactive TV also got plenty of use for some hands on learning, while our secondary young people teamed up with trades professionals to design their own football team logos, a brilliant mix of creativity and real world skill building.

Over with our primary students, things got a little messier (in the best way) with a shaving foam sensory activity, followed by some careful painting on their own wooden puzzles.

From the kitchen to the classroom to the craft table, it was a week full of energy, creativity and genuine engagement 💙
